So, I decided to ask if I can claim a refund for a half-broken game.

Results were kinda... interesting, I'm posting it here just so you can see how productive is the tech support:

(note dates, I didn't get any response to my last message)

QUESTION 3/10/2009

Hello,

So far it seems that Age of Booty is missing a lot
of featured content(like split-screen, multiplayer etc). I would like to know
if I can get a full
refund without contacting any consumer protection
organization.

Best regards,

Yaroslav

ANSWER 3/11/2009

Hello Yaroslav,

Where was the game purchased from? Were you playing the full version?

ANSWER 3/11/2009

Hello

The game was purchased at Capcom website store. Yes,
it is a full game (it features 7 challenges in each
difficulty)

I'll try to get one from steam.
Since the official statement on clearly advertised and missing content was "Right now there are not any plans to add these features to Age of Booty." I see that we're not (ever) going to get what the game description on the homepage tells us.

thanks certain affinity, would have been great otherwise...

Same here, i was delaying getting a refund, hoping they would still introduce splitscreen and decent gamepad support with an update, but since they have no plans to live up to their promise, i'm going for a refund.

Well great, and they continue to play the customer for a sucker.capcom just told me, that I will have to get refunds from my vendor, aka steam, who directed me to capcom.

I've just told both of them to contact each other and sort the 'oh but I'm not responsible' ****, and get me my money, cause (and in fact this is true not just some statement booster), advertising things, which are clearly missing (especially not just one but quite a few), is illegal where I live.

the wait goes on...

Capcom plays the same game with the PS3 version - "It is not our fault - contact Sony!".

I feel sorry for you guys but you can consider yourself robbed of your money. If you read some of the PS3 related topics in this forum you will se a history of Capcom screwing their customers.

Now, a half year after the release the game is almost playable at PS3. It still has a crappy online match making system but you can, if lucky, get a game or two going.

nice, it got even better today:

steam support said: "oh we never refund any games"

so i guess, certain affinity, capcom and all vendors just took the piss out of their customers. thanks, nice work on your part.

I know that you don't give a rats ass but that's the last time that i bought a game from you, oh and just for the record, I will make sure that everyone knows you're lying about your products to just sell units, yeah I'm talking to you, certain affinity.

direbroom - I'm also from Certain Affinity. Please bear with us. As you can see we just put out a patch, and announced a patch for the Xbox version coming out on the 25th of March. We do care very much about our customers and are doing what we can do address any issues.

We can't, however, help people that are having problems with the PSN version, as we did not develop that version of the game. Hopefully Capcom is able to help.

I know that and I appreciate that. However, as you can read in the other thread, your colleague told me/us that there are no plans for splitscreen, gamepad input, (real aka no internet) LAN play for the PC version as advertised (and that is what makes me angry; not that it's not in yet, but that it just won't come), which were among the most important features. Now? I just can pick my nose if friends come over and we want to play a few rounds of AoB.
