Since I bought Age of Booty off steam, I was only able to launch it once successfully but since then the game has always crashed to desktop when I wanted to start it. : there seems to be an incompatibility between Age of Booty and Windowblinds.
So, until this is fixed, use the following as a workaround (Instructions are for XP, may vary for Vista):
a) Unload WindowBlinds completely
Right-click on your Windows desktop, select Properties
Click the "Appearance" tab
In the "Windows and Buttons" dropdownbox, select "Windows XP Style"
Click OK
You will be back to the default scheme from Windows XP, but at least you'll be able to play Age of Booty
b) Configure WindowBlinds for not skinning Age of Booty
Right-click on your Windows desktop, select Properties
Click the "Appearance" tab
Click the "WindowBlinds" button
Select "Settings", then "Change the look of an app", then "Add per application setting"
Browse to the Age of Booty folder (in my case - Steam version - %steamfolder%/steamapps/common/age of booty/) and select "Age of Booty.exe"
Check the "Ignore this application and do not skin it" button
