Yeah! Isn't it great being a beta alpha tester? Same problem here, looks like the activation key has not been updated with v1.0.1. You would think that would be fairly common to test this sort of thing....

Also, Sony will not refund this purchase...

The same here at my end ... patch breaks game. Now it doesn't even start any more. I'm impressed by the tendency of the build quality of AoB getting worse and worser. I'd really like to play AoB, but I can't.

What to do now? Bought a broken game, no refund and no official statement (besides pointing at the excellent reviews).

I just talked to the german PS3 support and they were not aware of the problem. They wanted me to format my hard drive, which I definitely denied (hours of work are not worth the 10 € although my call might have costed more than that :) However, they told me to file a problem report and send it to the PS3 support in UK (SCEE group in Germany is marginally small). They also told me they'll mail me if they find out anything ...

Looks like Age of Booty died recently  ;-D

Hopefully we won't have 4 weeks of utter silence before the next patch, eh?

I guess this is AoB Tales of Woe Central, so I feel that it's necessary I share my Tale of Woe.

So I got a PSN card for Christmas.  I tried adding the funds to my wallet but it wouldn't work.  I contacted Sony and after getting the run around for about a week I was finally able to enter the numbers and the funds were added to my wallet.  Keep in mind that Sony never called me back to tell me that I was good to go, I just got frustrated with the wait and I entered the digits in on the off chance it would work.  And well, it did.  T'was a happy day.

So I was faced with a decision.  Crash Commando or AoB....I generally trust Capcom and since I just finished Mega Man 9 and loved every second of it I decided to go with Capcom and AoB.  The single player was fun but slightly diminished by the stupid, stupid AI.  Forgivable if the online is competent, right?  Needless to say, as we all know the online is broken at best.  Sadly, AoB multiplayer is addictive and fun but getting into a match takes upwards to an hour.  The one silver lining is that I've met quite a few  great players while waiting for a match.  I guess I'm used to CoD4's rambling idiots, but AoB has some great guys and gals playing the game.  So now I'm stuck knowing there are great matches to be had, if only AoB would let me play them.

Lesson learned: Next time buy Crash Commando.

The new "so called update" it had only one purpose: to shut down the game for all of us. No way they would make suck a big mistake without meaning to do so!

They're a joke now. The problem had been known for a long time, and they had no intention of fixing it. Only to shut down the game for good.

I'm just waiting for my money to arrive - cause this will never end up working any way.

And now they have started to cencor my comments in their blogs to try to hide the problems!

Good way to make your customers into your enemies. Have you ever heard about customer support?

I guess it's just a matter of time before they shut down this forum thread as well. Or maybe the'll let us whine and complain here while they are sitting and laughing at us in their office! Haven't seen an offical post in this forum for ages....(since the age of booty actually Wink)

I don't know wheter to laugh or cry but Certain Affinity (developer of AoB) is currently hiring a Test Manager:

"We have big things up our sleeves (Which way to the gym?) and want to hire talented, fun, and experienced people who love video games. The latest addition to the list of positions we need to fill our ranks is Test Manager."

I think they should have thought of hiring a Test Manager BEFORE they shipped AoB! But perhaps (hopefully) they have fired the Test Manager responsible for AoB PS3 version and are now hiring a new one who is talented and experienced.

Reply with a little information received here - http://www.capcom-unity.com/tech_support/go/thread/view/7301/13004147/Fix_for_completely_broken_Age_Of_Booty

Not sure why this would not be posted in the Age Of Booty forum, but I guess Capcom aren't the best at communication or customer service. Maybe too busy playing Street Fighter?

A fix has just been posted for AoB PSN SCEE users (who downloaded Trial or bought the game using the trial).  The patch is live now.  You will need to delete the old version, redownload AoB from the Download List inside the Sony Store.  It should then autopatch on next launch to version 1.02.  Please post here if you run into any problems with this fix.

Apologies cannot replace the time you have lost trying to get this resolved.  Speaking for Capcom, we are very sorry this happened.  But to emphasize an important point, this was not Capcom's fault.  Simply put, Sony made the mistake sending out a half-baked game, and we have been cleaning up the problem ever since.

Please take a moment and see if the above instructions will resolve your problems.  It should be the last patch before we come out with Trophies. Feel free to message me directly using the Unity message/email.

This patch does not contain anything other than the original game version code, and fixes for the leaked trial version.  The Trophies patch is coming in a couple weeks and will also contain other bug fixes.
