    Capcom's Sweet Home

    Saturday, October 31, 2009, 09:22 PM [General]

I really should've been working friday but I couldn't resist to play Sweet Home whenI found it on this flash site: www.1980-games.com

    www.1980-games.com/us/old-games/nintendo...

This game is amazing! I'm sure other people have reviewed it but this game mixesall of my favorite genres together: survival horror, RPG, visual novel and adventure! The puzzles are challenging without being ridiculously difficult, which is odd for a game made 20 years ago.

Before you go and play the game I suggest you watch the Japanese horror film first. It gives more depth to the story, I mean theres only so much you can do in a 8-bitvideo game.

The greatest thing about Sweet Home is that when I was playing I didn't feel likeI was playing this super old NES game. Thats when you know you're playing a greatgame, when it doesn't matter how good the graphics, sound or controls are. Enjoy Unity and Happy Halloween!

    Capcom t-shirts at Uniqlo

    Sunday, August 16, 2009, 02:33 AM [General]

Ever since I landed here in Japan I've had a hella time finding clothes that fit me. But then I found the Old Navy/Urban Outfitters of Japan: Uniqlo. I was saved.

I religiously (I'm serious I go every Sunday) shop there not just because the prices are 'American'(cheap) but they have amazing t-shirts that are very difficult to find in the states. Video game t-shirts!

Now unlike Hot Topic, where gamers usually get their gaming t-shirts from, Uniqlo has style. When your an old gamer like me you wanna dress your age so Uniqlo comes to the rescue with the shabby chique look. Check out the Makaimura (Ghost N' Goblins) t-shirt that resembles an old worn  heavy metal band tee. Or the Hadoken teal baseball cut thermal tee!

These t-shirts are made with high quality cotton and come in all sorts of styles, crew necks like above and V-necks like the one I'm wearing below. Yes, I know thats not a Capcom shirt but I have to support Virtua Fighter because that game really taught me how to understand the power of 'Ma' (marital artists reading will understand).

Now you're probably wondering, " Where the hell can I buy these?" Here is a link to Uniqlo.

    www.uniqlo.co.uk/

I know it's for the UK but the USA branch does not carry the video game t-shirts. And I'm pretty sure the UK can send out to the US. If not you can try to contact the USA branch and tell them which t-shirt you want maybe they can do something for you. Pretty soon UNIQLO will launch a huge campaign in the states hopefully they'll bring their beautiful t-shirts along for the ride.  T-shrits range from 950 - 1,500 yen a piece. But if your a cheapstake like me you hide the one you want, wait a week and then come back and they'll mark the price down to 500yen! ($5.26 as of posting).

    Reviewing Kansai Arcades

    Friday, August 14, 2009, 09:43 AM [General]

I've recently purchased a Honda Dio 50cc scooter and now I'm on the move! Back to reviewing game centers/arcades of the Kansai region for your reading enjoyment. I'll do my best to give directions to these obscure arcades because as many gamers know Japan is a labyrinth of roads, side-streets and alleys.

My first hole in the wall arcade I found was in Akashi. A seaside city famous for takoyaki. It also has some pretty decent arcades one in particular is Pinokio Game Center. I would've missed it if I hadn't decided to park right in front of it LOL! The best thing about this sleezy arcade is that they have Death Smiles 2 (  a beautiful shm'up by CAVE) for 50yen! And for memories sake please play Art of Fighting; it's in 100% working order on a nice Atomiswave. Pinokio is located down the street from Akashi Station JR, across the street from McDonald's and sandwiched between Yoshinoya and some department store called CaDen.

    Kansaijin desu...

    Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 07:41 AM [General]

Haven't been on in awhile due to my new home, Kakogawa,Japan. Out here trying to live the dream and I have to admit I'm doing pretty good. Looking forward to send my resumes out at the end of the year. But in the meantime I'm adjusting to Japanese life and customs. It's hard, harder than I could imagine but I have a strong network of foreigners here and it's not too bad. I leave you with a picture of my home. The land of video games and arcades it's a beautiful thing...
