It would also be beneficial for everyone reading this thread to know that from now until the end of time DVDs will always be MUCH faster to load than Blu Ray. That will never change.
Lol. I love uninformed posts. Sigh.
I've had the same experience. Play any third party game that is available for both 360 and PS3 and it's blatantly apparent (the biggest offenders I can think of off the top of my head are Fight Night Round 3, Splinter Cell Double Agent, Fallout 3, and that's just recent memory). He's not uninformed, he's actually played both.
You truly make a ton of eye rolling comments. Until the end of time? Come one. Any logical thinker knows that it is bullshit.

No it is not. The weaker, more researched technology that has been around longer (DVDs) will always have faster read/write methods than the newer (Blu Ray). Same way that CDs have and always will have faster speeds than DVDs. Plus, which do you think takes longer to load? 8 gigs or 25-50 gigs? Don't worry, you can use your toes if need be.

Not necessarily.
Take a look at this... DVD 1x = 01.35 MB/sec 6x = 08.10 MB/sec Blu-Ray 1x = 04.50 MB/sec 6x = 27.00 MB/sec I think there's a clear difference here. Sure, the "times" whatever number might be higher on the DVD format as it has been around longer, but that doesn't mean that transfer speeds are quicker.

You're 100% correct. But when talking about the 360/PS3, the 360 uses 12x for DVDs, and the PS3 uses 2x for BD. One will always load faster than the other.

Thank Jaxel and Roq for that, bringing in **** about disc read speeds. I just wanted to know if there was a mandatory install for the PS3 edition and whether an NXE install would help or hurt the 360 version.

At this point I don't think we'll find out until it's officially announced. Probably some PR issue. =/

Oh well, found out on the Neogaf forums. Optional install, halves load times to aruond 5 to 6 seconds (just like SCIV). Assume it should do the same on the 360. Nice. Definite install for me and hopefully this marks a change in philosophy at Capcom to make installs optional. If it is an optional install, people would still install the game anyway, only they won't be pissed.

The last couple of posts in this thread are correct--the install is optional, for those who want to shave a sliver off of load times between matches :) best, Seth
Ask me about my beard. Or don't. It's cool either way.
