@ Skinny Jr and SVEN:

I'm glad you got my point... See SVEN... it seems liek Capcom doesn't give two sh*** about brand loyalty... So for all you gamers who followed RE for 13 years and bought the 5+ games that have come out for it... well, they don't care that you've made the game immensely popular... they dont care that without your exuberance over any mention of a RE Game, the RE franchise would not be a fraction as popular as it is today...  at least thatsn ot what their nickle and dime strategy tells me... Like I said, Im not buying this game until the VS mode is free... Primarily because theres no telling if I like the game or not... hell  at least with new costumes I could use it regardless of whether i like em or not, it doesnt diminish my view on the game as a whole where as if i dislike versus mode after paying $5 it will forever diminish my view of the game simply because I'll feel that I was coerced into buying a mode that shouldve been included in the first place, and it was underwhelming at best... all top 5 games on xbox live dont charge extra for their versus or any online mode for that matter! At the VERY LEAST... and i mean this COMPLETELY... at the VERY LEAST!!!! For $5 more for the versus mode in xbox live, capcom better be willing to say it is AS GOOD if not better then any of the current top 5 xbox live games versus modes.... I doubt this!

and if they never announced multiplayer content and never released it, would you still not buy the game because you still feel entitled to xbox live support because gears of war and halo 3 and blah blah blah had multiplayer support and they all cost $60?

when i think resident evil, i think substantial single player game, and thats what i expect. when they announced multi i thought, meh, whats that really gonna add? they arent exactly known for thei online multiplayer content. i bought RE5 for the single player experience. so they added multi after, im not getting it. but if they want to charge a couple bucks, doesnt bother me one bit.

I'm gonna call "BS". Capcom recently has shown an awful trend of screwing their fans for downloadable content. Look at Mega Man 9 - there is downloadable content for a Hard mode... fail. Street Fighter IV costumes come out around the same time as the games release? Why not put them on the disc. I'm sure that DeeJay will appear as paid DLC sometime too, even though he has been found on the disc. Don't tell me that RE5 is worth more than 60 bucks, I beat Resident Evil 5 in 2 days... Does that warrant a great singleplayer adventure Sven? Fallout 3 killed RE5 content wise. You guys are screwing us when it comes to paid content, and I will not be downloading it. Resident Evil 5 is a good game, just not as good as RE4.

Don't try to call out "BS" on a bad marketing maneuver that you are trying to make credible. Here's a good marketing technique, don't release DLC during the first month the game is out, you won't start controversy like this, and it will make it look like you actually did work on it post-release.

Ok capcom, since you're listening here's the deal with DLC...

If the content is on the disc we already purchased, then you are selling us a key to unlock content we ALREADY OWN.

If the user has to actually download it, then it really is DLC and its more reasonable to charge for it.

However, in regards to the timing, if you release it within a timeframe that allows the content to have just been "on the disc" then it essentially is "in the same package".  Just because it's packaged seperately does not absolve the part where it feels like i'm being short sold on the value of the intitial item only to be nickle and dimed later for the rest of what i paid for.

If it makes sense to sell the item is pieces, then charge less for the origninal cost of the game, not more just to make it complete.

Aiming for a "near release" window makes sense, yet feels disengenuous, regardless as to what the content contains.

Simultaneous development schedules may be more challenging to execute, but the player is left opening their wallet again.

It's like selling a car and charging extra for the other three seats.

Telling the consumer they can't consume all the content they have already fully paid for, does not feel right.

I would feel no remorse for pirating and encouraging others to do so for content that is being paid for TWICE. Your rationale of it being on a "seperate budget" does not address this issue at all. If it's on the disc, IT'S ALREADY PAID FOR in the cost of buying the game in the first place. What's next, charging to "unlock" cheat codes? That didn't work out so well for EA. No doubledippin'!

Buy it or don't buy it, simple as that.

Now Playing: Halo 3: ODST, Halo 3, Need for Speed Shift, Call of Duty 4, Battle Stations Pacific.

Exactly. Tell Capcom that **** like that won't fly by refusing to purchase the "patch" aka unlock key. That's what I'm going to do!

like some people have said already, if the content is already  on the disc, then it isn't a true DLC, you are paying for something that's already on the disc, look at criterion and burnout paradise, they did some free DLC, and after that they started to put a price for the DLC,  because they made those cars AFTER they released the game, i would pay for things like that, not to unlock something that's already on the disc.  needless to say, i'm not gonna buy this "DLC".

This is the part where I get to say "BS".  RE5 is well worth every penny of $60. A huge game, with tons of replay value, loads of unlockables, new weapons, co-op, mercenaries mode, etc. If any game warrants its price point, it's RE5.

Prior to the announcement of the Versus mode, no one complained they weren't getting their money's worth with the initial release because it packs TONS of value because it is an amazing game. So if people were already satisfied with what the package had, when we offer MORE, why is it people feel they've been somehow cheated? If you don't find value in our secondary offerings, the choice is simple, don't purchase it. If you do find it valueable (and we hope you do) please do buy it and enjoy it.

Secondly, whenever we do PDLC, that content exists with its own budgets, it's own profit and loss analaysis with its own forecasts. If it didn't, that extra content wouldn't have been put into production, because it did not fit within the production budget of the base product.

The content that is shipping in the full game exists within its own budget. The content shipping afterward (regardless of how close to release it is... because the goal IS to have it release relatively closely to the base product's release) exists within its own budget. To try and have it release in a timeframe that is relatively close to the initial release, development starts well before the base product is on the shelves. There's no other way to keep it within 3 to 6 weeks of the initial release (which is the goal).

Well first off, If the Multiplayer component is already on the disc and your still charging for it, Thats just wrong.

Especially when it's some gay-ass unlock "thing"... and only 500kb lol...Having said that, 400ms points really isn't all that much to be honest but that doesn't mean you should charge people for something that they already have physically on their disc and that they rightfully bought & own already.

I mean, You should know that.. You built the game for christs sake! .. All I'm saying is be loyal to your fans man, don't start thinking that you can go and extract as much cash out of them as possible like EA, you'll just go downhill.

Capcoms fan stay loyal, do the same thing back or else.
