I've also just signed up since seeing this on Kotaku. Huge fan of the RE series, and was becoming a big fan of Capcom. Between MM9 and BC:R it seemed as though Capcom were really getting it. Gamer-focused games, big on community and all that. But a DLC unlock key? This is ridiculous. FWIW, I won't be buying this mode. From its description it doesn't seem worth it, not even for the relatively cheap 400MS points. But how did you really expect to go from catering to gamers, who really care about getting online, buying DLC, giving your games word-of-mouth support, to screwing them over? In principal that is, again; not in price. I take no issue with the timing, from a business perspective you're bound to sell tons more of this if you announce it right close to release. But the fact that it's on the disc is junk. If it had to be completed while the main game was being made gold I could understand. But it was finished a long time ago it seems, and could have been free (budgets or otherwise). So don't come calling 'BS' on anything, when you cater to the gaming community with one hand, and punch it in the groin with the other. PDLC that is on disc is not acceptable. Add to this the fact that the mode hardly seems interesting at all, it's just a cash grab. If you wanted to secure extra money, why not go Epic's Gears 2 route? Include an unlock key in the box for gamers who bought it new. Then charge for it for people who bought it second hand. Because you know what? The guy like me, and many others in this thread and online who are complaining about this on-disc unlockable content are the same people that line up day 1 to buy your game. And you're screwing them over. |

Valve also employs 10 times less people than Capcom, at 190 to Capcom's 1,900. Simple economics dictates they can't give away as many man hours. |

You know what game included multiplayer when the core game was not multiplayer-based? Metal Gear Solid 3+4. Apparently, it can be included in a game that isn't necessarily suited for online play. |

What, you mean like the SFIV costumes? The majority of which already existed, were mere cosmetic variations, and cost $20?!!!!! Those unlocks? Well, I'm certainly glad Capcom is not gouging it's fans with this RE5 DLC by making them buy unlock keys for existing "content." Bless you, Capcom.

I had to join Capcom's online community just to share my opinion and I'm sure Capcom appriceates that. Resident Evil 5 is a great game, but Capcom is definetly going the wrong way by charging their customers for unlockable game modes.Street Fighter IV is way to expensive for what it is and charginng $20 for costumes is outrageous. Sven wrote, "I'm sorry guys, but this is the part where I have to call "BS". RE5 is well worth every penny of $60. A huge game, with tons of replay value, loads of unlockables, new weapons, co-op, mercenaries mode, etc. If any game warrants its price point, it's RE5." But, who really creates the value of the game? Is it Capcom? Absolutetely not, its the reviewers and consumers. Capcom you can say "if you don't like it don't buy it", in the end that is what will happen. I doubt that is the outcome you as a company want.

I don't like where all this DLC stuff is going. Paying for content that is on the disc is just wrong. You may call BS on the multiplayer, but what about the alternate costumes for Street Fighter IV? Were those not factored into original production cost, as well? They had to have been. Because they are pictured in the character artwork extras and were in the arcade version. I was planning on buying Resident Evil 5, as I am a long time fan of the series. But I think now i'm going to have to abstain. These are hard times for everyone and I know Capcom is in the business of making money, but lets go through the right channels. Withholding content that we bought rights to is lame and dishonest. You shouldn't nickel and dime your fans. The people who buy your games are the people you want to take care of. Unfortunately, you see it as "People who buy our games are big enough fans to pay for extra content." How long to you think the gaming community is going to put up with this? How well do you think a DVD movie release would do if you had to pay to unlock the deleted scenes or the scene selection menu? Sooner or later the bubble is gonna pop, we're beginning to see it now. AAA games have all the frills on the disc, thats what makes them triple-a titles. DLC is content that is released later in the games life cycle to revitalize gameplay and add to the lifespan. You're bending the rules and charging us to unlock content we already payed for. What is next, are you going to start charging us for ending sequences? Soundtracks? Controller configurations? Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. You're really starting to disappoint me, Capcom. Trust me, you don't want to draw comparisons to Namco-Bandai and i've already seen one such comparison in this thread. |

Whats kinda funny.. sc4 pay to get extra content was already on disk.. No one really thru a fit. Several of Oblivions content was alredy on game and you need to buy small patch to get full content.. no major complents. But for some reason all QQ past few weeks got everyone to notice it.
I think several of you should just blog your QQ's
*insert witty comment and words i can't spell here*
