Capcom USA and releasing PS1 games on PSN (or lack thereof!)

What's the deal? What's going on here? The lack of any sort of retro releases of the past RE games on the US PSN store was a completely lost opportunity. Is the problem paperwork? Some fees? Its not even a licensing issue, right? What the hell?

You go to the Japanese store, you see Biohazard 1-3 all listed in the Top 10 for weeks, and what do we get? Nothing. What's the problem? Are impulse purchases not enough incentive for a few PS1 releases? Have to go through the ESRB again? Weren't they already rated?

Who thought it'd be a good idea not to put the classic PS1 trilogy on the hype train towards RE5's release?

I can understand holding out on releasing key games if there are plans for reviving a franchise or two, but after the fact? Its disappointing at best.

The first PS1 titles for PSN were submitted last week... when I have some dates for them, we'll let you know what and when is going to happen. :)

Thats great news. There have been a lot of threads about this (including my own). I would really love to see RE4 but thats a whole different story, isnt it? All the time and money put in to porting it though would pay off. I think you guys know that considering RE5 shipped 4 million copies, making the total amount of RE games shipped 40 million. Congratulations.

Word I got back this morning is that this may take a bit more time than anticipated. We'll keep folks posted. And  for now I'm still not discussing what title(s) they are. We'll discuss it when we're through the pipe a bit further.
