Agreed. And just when I was starting to feel a smidge of respect for them, we get another round of uncalled for post-censoring and thread-locking. I don't know, I think I might be done. Not much more to be said. Capcom has lost some customers over this, that's for sure. And it's not just DLC money they're not getting from some people. I'm their target audience for MM9 (have probably thirty MM games in my collection), SFIV (I probably dropped over a grand on SFII in arcades back in the day), and RE5 (been there since day one with RE1 PS1). I didn't buy any of them. I put that money towards their competitors' games, and will continue to do so. Research supports evidence that says the cost of selling to an existing customer is 1/10 to 1/5 the cost of selling to a new customer. From marketingprofs.com: "According to the Customer Service Institute, 65% of a company's business comes from existing customers, and it costs five times as much to attract a new customer than to keep an existing one satisfied." Hope you made the right call, Capcom. |

Don't get too frustrated... I just pay for the games I like and the stuff I like, it was a kick in the balls when they decided to DLC everything but what can we actually do? I am sad we didn't get 5 billion costumes like Tekken 5 and prob 6 will have, and I do get you want to get more for your buck but I see these DLC as accesories to an item. Kinda like an mp3 , its case, the good headphones you have to buy to actually listen to it cause the original headphons suck, the fact that the 8 gig they sold you is 7.5 gigs....see where I am getting with this?

If you don't have the right to say otherwise, who does? They are trying to sell a product, we are buyers. If we didn't buy their product they wouldn't be in business. Why do you think we're playing Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil V? Right now they are expirimenting with DLC seeing just how much they can get out of us. Game sales are a big deal to developers (naturally) and i've heard several developers through various outlets of media bring up the whole paying for the ending of a video game. If we keep putting up with them selling us extra content that should have been included in the game from the start, thats exactly what we're going to see. If people keep buying content that we would have got for free in previous generations, they won't stop. They'll keep subtracting extras until you're left with an empty husk of a game. Speak up and be heard, tell your friends.

...lol, death of DLC? I don't think so...somebody is making mad money and that somebody won't let go. Look at the tobaco company...that **** is bad and it kills people but why is it legal? It is all about $$$ and if we don't have enough $$$ to fight back then nothing we do say will change the main guy with the $$$ and that my friend is just how the world is.

So you're saying it is wrong but that it's useless to fight back? "Because that's the way the world works." Only if we LET it. Somebody already said it earlier but, "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing." Well, I'm DOING something about this, and I refuse to just roll over and be a victim of unethical price schemes, not if I can't do something about it. And I am. Even if I don't win this battle and they do go through with screwing us over, by taking a stand I'm doing SOMETHING and making people more aware, and to me, that's enough. |

Also/// the original question had nothing to do with paying for DLC...alone but why do I have to pay live...which is a dumb question to ask here. Live is MS business, and so is the internet you pay for and the phone...ergh .either way you can always start something her and start a new thread, I will take a step back and see what happens. I am glad you don't blame mods for something you too would do in their position.

I never once blamed the mods for this, but I criticized the way they handled the situation. They are not above non-biased criticism. It's extremely cynical to say "the world is screwing you over all the time, you just don't know it". Ignorance of something we feel is wrong does not justify it, but knowledge is a very powerful thing. If you truly believe that this is a futile fight, then stop being a Tokyo Rose and demoralizing those compaigning for change just because you think it won't do any good. Maybe it won't. Maybe we'll never be heard. But the point is I'm doing something about it, which is far more then you are doing, sir. You've admitted that you are being ripped off and you accept it as a fact of life. I believe customers deserve to be treated better and petition for change now, before these practices grow more prevelent and derisive, is far better than sitting back and laughing at the futility of it all. My grandfather was involved in walks to Washington to petition for equal rights for blacks and minorities. He wasn't even black either, but he believed that there needed to be change, even if it didn't affect him directly. There were people who told him it was futile too. They'd never make a difference. Just accept being victimized and taken advantage of. They were wrong. |
