It would be foolish for it not to. Can't wait for it. |

@OP: Gamespot, not gamestop. I'm really excited right now, finally some news! Capcom, spread the word - this is going to be HUGE if true.
Exactly. Making this game LIVE-enabled always seemed like the only logical option. Let's keep fingers crossed for cross-platform play. |

You'll note the gamespot article is dated today. The press had sort of a tacit agreement not to announce anything they saw at Captivate until the 28th, today, with capcom, and Capcom wasn't likely to break that agreement by leaking information early. Obviously the people at gamespot were /very/ excited, releasing this article first thing in the morning. Don't jump to assume Capcom is trying to hide things from you, they're just simply letting the people they brought to the event do the talking. :) |

Captivate embargoes break this morning. Yes it is GFW Live... unfortunately though, there is no cross play with 360.

I beg your pardon?! Why? Why, why, why? I'll still buy it, but you have WASTED the opportunity to encourage many people who already bought it to purchase it again for PC. It feels like you're jeopardizing your own efforts to make this game successful. Cross-platform play would make SF4 MUCH more popular. |

Yes, cross-platform play would make it more popular, but I won't be complaining, since my only desire was not to pay a monthly fee for online play on the 360. Online play shouldn't cost money if it can be avoided, with MMORPGs on a grand scale being an obvious exception. A lot of older games had LAN and Connect-To-IP multiplayer options, so that even when the official servers went down 5-7 years later, one could still play with their friends. Games For Windows Live is free to play, so my problem is solved. Also, Microsoft isn't going anywhere, so hopefully their GFW Live service will stick around for a very long time, too. Plus, it pretty much prevents pirates from playing the game online, which works out pretty fantastically for capcom.
Not bad, not bad at all. Though Tom does have a point, Cross Platform play is almost always a plus, there's usually a good reason when a developer doesn't avail themselves of the built in cross platform functionality of Windows Live ... Probably to prevent PC users from dominating the leaderboards with custom controllers and other various advantages PC gamers tend to have over console players just as a general rule. ( See Shadowrun's PC <-> X360 cross platform play, and you'll understand a more obvious example. Mouse + Keyboard > Joysticks in FPS. ) |
