I know Capcom is trying to bring this game to North America, and I hope they can pull it off....but I'm curious, how much progress has Capcom made aquiring the licenses for the Tatsunoko characters? It would be so cool to add it to my Wii library.

I'd love to do that, but I don't have a modded system, so I can't play Japanese games.

You don't have to mod your system. Check ebay for something called a Freeloader. It lets you play games from all regions and it's legal. It just doesn't translate anything unless you know Japanese stay away from rpgs and Fatal Frame 4, stuff like that. Also importing games can be expensive so be prepared for that.

CAREFUL! I got one for Naruto and Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, and it was fine for about a year, and then... Well, just recently (with the release of Madworld), Nintendo and third parties began putting updates on games that cannot be bypassed by the Freeloader. Why does this matter? Because the Wii Freeloader only works on firmware 3.2U and below. If you're someone who updates their system often, getting a Freeloader won't help you. If you have any questions about this let me know. There are some soft mods available (with homebrew), but I took the more expensive and less risky route and got a Japanese Wii when traveling in Tokyo a few weeks back...works like a charm and I get access to the JP Shop Channel (and its exclusive games) as a bonus. It'd be nice if it comes out here, but my guess is it'll stay in Japan. It's already in the bargain bins over there, and can be obtained in most places for 2980 Yen (~$30). The game bombed, so I wouldn't count on them moving it to the PS3 and 360 either. Also, I'm actually pretty sure Capcom of Japan is pretty certain that if it was released on the PS3, it would be imported quite a bit - companies don't like importing for a number of reasons (price control, included licenses, etc.) Tatsunoko rights holders in the US in theory could balk at this - not that they'd do anything about it...but they could.

Whoa! Thanks for the heads up! I bought Madworld when it came out but I've only played on my friends system. Well crap. Might have to get a Japanese Wii.

Madworld doesn't update the systems firmware, I know, I have a freeloader. I know there is an update, as I was forced to initiate it (I really wanted to play Madworld) but my systems firmware was 3.2 when I started the update and 3.2 afterward.

If it's very hard to go through all the licensing problems, maybe capcom might want to add a few more capcom characters and thats it. No one really likes or even knows about Tatsunuko, and capcom has the most favourable characters anyway. Something to think about.
