What are you talking about? MvC2 on the arcade/xbox/ps2 and dreamcast sold! AND ARE STILL SELLING! When MvC2 drops by in  a few weeks it will sell like manga over at Japan...

If Capcom and Backbone came out with 3rd Stirke HD,honestly I would find myself playing that waaay more then SF4. The reaosn is that SF4 is too old school and play a lot like SF EX Plus series. The character roster is not that great. Plus the storyline is not hot at all. I would thing Capcom would go forward in the storyline then going back in time.

The graphics looks great and all, but the gameplay does not impress me like 3rd Stirke did. Now, if SF4 had the parry system then maybe I would like it a little bit more, but having old characters and old gameplay is boring to me.

Top it off you only get 1 super art and one Ultra move. At least in 3rd Stike you able to pick from 3 super arts in which you change yoru style of play.

The fun factor for SF4 is very low as well. When you hear about a new fighting game you want more new stuff then old stuff. The parry system was an excellent defensive system in any fighting game, next to the "just defense system" in SNK, SF4 should of continue to use the parry system with some added new moves. Like the focus system....in which is so so okay.

Whenever SF5 comes out I hope Capcom add a lot more new characters and add better gameplay.    :D

I disagree with most of what you state my friend...casuals like the old school from what I see, and the fun factor is really good for it, a lot of people play it...

The new characters were probably the best thing about SFIII. The majority of the SFII cast are thinly veiled ethnic and racial stereotypes.

The only problem the casual player has with Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, or even Street Fighter III in general, is that 90% of the characters are brand new.

Think about it, nobody's ever really played the first SF (kind of a lie, but it's more obscure than the others) so it didn't matter that SF II got a new roster of characters, but every casual player has played the SF II and SFA games and knows all of those characters, and then they play SF III and are turned off because of the amount of new characters. The casual player doesn't wanna learn every movement of every character, he just wants to get in a fight and win, and in a game like Street Fighter you won't get past the fourth fight in Arcade Mode without mastering that character.

Thats why I think Capcom is reluctant to give SFIII a re-release, because other than Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Akuma (I might be missing a few, probably not, but it's been a while) none of the characters are all that familiar.

But who knows, as I said before, when the vibrating chairs break, we may get our game.

I feel where you are coming from, but I know everyone is different but I feel that if you have more new characters you end up playing the game a lot more, becuase you want to learn new people and see if you can win instead of using your old school favorites.

But after all this time you would think that people are familiar with SFIII, right my friend?

Just because something's been around for a long time doesn't mean everyone's familiar with it, people are familiar with Star Wars after 30+ years because it was a huge hit at the start, casual gamers aren't familiar with Street Fighter III because it wasn't a huge hit with them, now it WAS a huge hit with the fans and would've been a huge hit with casual gamers as well if it had more recognizable characters in it rather than a billion new characters. Street Fighter IV is currently blazing in the sales because it's a throwback to Street Fighter II and Alpha, seeing as it has characters from both games in it, so it's something familiar. I work at blockbuster and I see people renting it all the time and they always comment on how they barely remember III, but remember II extremely well. They're always like "I remember there being a Street Fighter III, but I don't remember playing it much, though I dominated II at the arcade" though some customers don't remember III at all.

Again, not trying to say it wouldn't be smart for Capcom to release SFIII 3rd Strike, because there's obviously a market for it, but I'm just trying to make a point about why casual gamers were turned off by it, yet love SFIV

Yes I agree with you right there, I suppose then...if SFIII like you said would of had more old characters, it would of probably been a hit...

Yeah everyone plays it because Capcom slap a IV on it. LOL As much I hate to say it, SF4 will fall pretty soon by the end of this year. I stop by Gamestop the other day and seen massive use copies of SFIV on the shelf. i was so shock.

To be honest SF EX Plus is much better then SF4 and they play the same besides the focus attack.

Not any rudeness to you, but I wonder what Gamestop you've been to, although I hate Gamestop, my cousin asked me to accompany him to one, and when I looked there wasn't one single SFIV used copy on the shelf, and same with some Gamestops I had to tag along to...

And I don't still see the C.E. of SFIV around...they really sold out...

The main reason SFIII failed is because it was released during the fall of the arcade age. Not having a home console version didn't help. Sure, it was on Dreamcast, but that system was on it's way out before it even got properly settled, thanks in no small part to the PlayStation 2.

IMO, the characters are a fairly distant third to these two issues.
