Come on dude 70 percent of all the people that claim they have played SF3 have played it from an emulator. What makes you think they will buy SF3?
That's where Online and HD features come into play. You couldn't just release sfiii as it was and expect it to work. You need to have a hook over potential customers, hence giving it a graphical update, since apparently that's all you need to sucker people in nowadays. Online takes the lifespan into unlimited potential, so with those two a game as old as sfii, can thrive as sfiihdr. |

Im all for a rerelease of third strike.
But please no HDRemix, that just means we won't see this any time soon.
Besides HDREmix for SFII wasn't even all that great in terms of looks |

If the game has a filter for hd and the multiplayer is like hd remix if not better then I believe it will sell very well. If it doesn't have online then I don't think I would even buy it, but most likely it will cause capcom has the ggpo license. It's just a matter of time before we get sf3.

Looks like a lot of people have been going on about stuff I covered in my post already. Things like the kind of expense it would take to make the game have already been pretty well dealt with, but there's something else I see coming up a lot that needs to be cleared up: the game's popularity. Yes, there have been a lot of Third Strike tournaments. Yes, a lot of FANS love the game. But I'm not talking about the fans here. I'm talking about the general market. Regardless of whether or not Street Fighter fanatics love the game, most people haven't even heard of it. Capcom did a terrible job marketing it when it came out, and as a result most people weren't even aware that there was a Street Fighter 3 until Street Fighter 4 hit the market. It's a game that has a strong and loyal following, but it's also a game that has a relatively small one, one that's restricted mostly to major Street Fighter fans and fighting game enthusiasts, and I don't think that's enough for them to justify remaking the entire game in HD (which, as I've explained, would be very expensive to do, far moreso than for Street Fighter 2). Third Strike is an amazingly well-animated game, and I've always wished that the fidelity of the sprites was high enough to match that animation... but at the same time, that quality of animation makes something like this all but impossible. I could certainly see Capcom re-releasing the game with the same kinds of filters that they're using for the MVC2 re-release, but to redraw the entire game in HD (particularly when most of those fans I'd mentioned would probably be willing to buy it with the old sprites if it had online play on a modern system) is an expense I can't see them paying and, again, an expense I can't see paying off for them. |
