Since I posted in the wrong thread a few hours ago... I want to know.  In MVC2, there are alot...and I mean alot of wthbbq!? type things...the Iron Man and Magneto infinites, the Storm run aways and what not.  I want to know if you guys are going to do it like street fighter HDR and make a remix version where the game is how it "should" be. Don't get me wrong, I love Marvel as much as the next guy, but I forsee many..and I mean MANY a people getting OCV'ed by a Magneto...or a Cable for that matter.

So that was the only thing on my mind...thank you.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Reasons why I'm not buying it

I have it for Dreamcast, first few years liked it.

Then realized how unbalanced it really is,  heck MVC1 was better.

I still don't know why they're gonna release this game again without fixing it? Oh I know, money.......

PS: Though I hope they fixed the infities/unbalanced characters

There are a few exploitable glitches and bugs being fixed, but by and large we are intentionally NOT rebalancing the game (thus it has no "Remix" as part of its title). Part of the game's appeal to a large number of fans are the inherent quirks of various characters. Loads of characters have infinites... the game is practically balanced in its imbalance and there are always going to be matchups that are more or less favorable than others (true of any fighting game).

Sirlin is no longer around. I wouldn't count on many re-releases to have as great of a rebalancing as SF2HDR did, if they have any at all.

Capcom has been rebalancing SF games for a few years before that, right?  Tongue out  I'd even say we're pretty good at it, as basically EVERY sf sequel has been regarded by the best players as an improvement over its predecessor (I can only even think of one possible exception, which had some extenuating circumstances).

At any rate, a rebalancing for MVC2 was never on the table.

-there was no widespread player interest, and it was not a part of any design documents, the plans for which stretch back several years.

-it wasn't possible within the terms of our contract with Marvel.

Ask me about my beard.  Or don't.  It's cool either way.

I've been racking my brain on this one and cant think of what you're referring.  It's not Giant Impact, is it?  Because I loved that.  Maybe Alpha3, with all the Ism's causing said extenuating circumstances?

Speaking of Giant Impact, and hopefully you'll read this Seth: I was never a very high level SF3 player, but I did enjoy Dudley a lot, but was curious why they got rid of his qcb+k move (the jumping-diving punch thing).  (Sorry, didn't mean to derail the rest of the thread but I think between Seth and Sven's posts they covered the OP's question)

Infinites and such should never play a part in sales. Just look at sfii, while skint on infinites, was high on loops. Then there was Alpha3 which was riddled with infinites, which sold 1 million copies and ported to various consoles.

Infinites aren't such a huge matter to be honest, it's only a niche group it concerns - casuals aren't bothered with it or barely even know about it, and hardcore players would actually welcome a thing like that. If you remove the infinites, you'll displease them. You make practically any change to a Street Fighter and the hardcore will hate you for it, they would rather be stuck on an earlier iteration.

I do believe the plan to rerelease MvC2 wasn't to give players a new experience, but to bring back a classic for nostalgia and fun. This is a game that constantly goes for $100 on ebay, and every copy sells, it's not just people putting it up for sale and it not selling, it always sells.

There would be no point to completely rebalance the game because this game alone appeals to two demographics already:

-MVC2 fans - ofwhich there are many

-Casual gamers who remember playing MVC2 in the arcades or on Dreamcast/PS2/Xbox years ago

Those two demographics alone will buy enough copies for capcom to turn a profit, and then there's also the demographics of new gamers and marvel fans who havent played it before, they'll scoop it up and totally be into it.

So why fix something that's not broke?

There's a massive MvC2 competitive scene, infinites or no.

If it doesn't break the game for ultra competitive Evo players, who exactly would we be "fixing" it for? Rebalancing a team based game like MvC2 (where there are thousands of permutations in matchups on a team basis) is COMPLETELY different than the 1v1 matchups in a standard SF title.
