I'm not saying that it should be a straight port. I'm saying that it can happen and if done right It would help people to rethink the Wii's Capability. Sure Wii can't support "High Definition" stuff except for like 480p TV Resolution. but it can still make games look just as good. (even if they aren't) |

I love SF IV, but I feel the same about the controllers for 360 and even PS3. Those pads aren't made for fighting games (well, the D pad that is) and suggesting my buddies getting an arcadestick is a reason to laugh at me :( So, yes, I agree. |

I just wonder if a Wii port of SF IV is viable simply for the fact that a classic controller is quite probably the only way to play the game correctly (or a stick that is) and the game would have atrocious at best online play (Smash Bros. is a good example of that).

Look at Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Tastunoko VS Capcom (most don't play them online) Great thread, the hurrendous ports like Dead Rising really make Capcom reputation look bad.
In essence if you're going to port games, make sure it's not a part and instead is a different game entirely.
What I'm saying is, if it's SFIV: -Make it cellshaded
Resident Evil 5: -You can either make it more "horror-filled" (change in day/time conditions). Or you can make it more flexible in terms of how you run, turn, etc. and make it overall a more 2D kind of game if you get my drift.
If you're a ninja, do you have secret passages in your house and stuff?-Sakura

Just give it RE4's engine. It won't suffer any like it would if it was made different entirely like Dead Rising was. |

1. It would not be "sacrificing" graphics. The graphics would be remade to what would fit. And there is a difference. 2. Most of the reviews, and most of the criticism from it here, are based on the belief that porting is easy, and making it look good is hard. That notion is not only false, it ignores the fact that no game like Dead Rising had been made when the original was developed, so how the hell would the developer have an idea of what works and what doesn't when putting it on the Wii? The bashers of this game seem to think this kind of development is simple and that it's obvious what should have been done, also false. Either game was made with no idea of how to do that kind of detail, with all those enemies, in one area, in respect to the resources for their respective systems (early shots show even the 360 version had to cut down on the zombies in the final version). So in just trying to get even half of all that to run on the Wii, CTYD works very well. And it was important, as it means Capcom has more of an idea of doing games of that scale on the Wii (even original ones). Almost none of the reviews took that into account, nor did they take the gameplay and performance. In fact several of the reviews showed they didn't pay attention to either the game, the original DR, or RE4. One review complained about Frank turning like the original RE games, when the latest games have the characters turning that way as well. Others complain about flaws that Dead Rising had on the 360. In short, those reviews were bad, and you're dismissing the game for the wrong reasons. You should try to get your hands on it and give it an honest playthrough. If you find you like it on your own terms, buy it. 3. Ports have been around for years in gaming. It's unreasonable to think this is happening to the Wii to spite it. In fact, the lack of ports of games we've been wanting (GTA) show more spiting for the Wii than porting games, which are not spiting at all. |
