I just bought the Resident Evil Directors Cut on the PSN today. I think it's awesome that I can now play Resident Evil on-the-go, but why is the intro cutscene to the game still censored? After all of the ruckus with the, "this is the directors cut and it has the uncensored opening....oops wait, nevermind, it's censored after all." Hasn't it been enough years? The intro isn't even that gory any more to todays standards for M rated games. Where is our uncensored intro? |

Because it is a direct port of the US version of the game, thus has the censored movie, like it always had.
They don't change anything with the PS1 ports. |

If you want to see the uncensored intro, there's always YouTube.

I've read that the PC version is uncensored and so are some copies of the Saturn version. I can't confirm this, though. |

Only the PC, some US/Europe Saturn, & German/French PS1 (Director's Cut) versions contain the uncut opening. |

Some of the US Saturn copies? It's been years since I've played that version and my Saturn's in another state right now, so I can't investigate this myself. I'm rather curious now. Do you know any more about that? |

That's as much as I know at the moment (it's past midnight where I am & I'm going to bed soon), but considering the censorship was due to Sony's censorship standards at the time, there's a good chance the Saturn version isn't censored. Perhaps a Capcom mod could like to clear things up. I should also mention that the Director's Cut was SUPPOSE to have the uncensored FMV, but still had the censored US version due to a localization mistake, so Capcom offered the uncensored FMV as a download on their site. |
