Thanks Bill.. Did you have any issues where your pre-existing keyboard mappings matched that of the XBox controller? I am trying to get this working with my arcade controller where the default key stroke for button 4, for example, is B. Everytime I hit B in the game to select my fighter (since button 4 is the equivalent of the A button on the 360 controller), it prompts that I am moving back one menu (as if I hit the B button on the 360 controller instead).
I have been wrestling with this for hours and am coming to the conclusion that I need to remap my whole arcade controller to make sure none of my default keystrokes use a 360 controller button assignment... |

Like I wrote in my previous post, some buttons on the keyboard are off limits because they are hard coded to menu controls. You can find more info on wich buttons in the game manual on page 7. I had to reconfigure some controls aswel, but since X-arcade has 4 memory banks and is super easy to configure on the fly... it didn't give me much of a headache.

From reading the earlier posts, you might be lead to believe that your controller WILL be compatible. Not true. Be careful if you are using 3rd party programs to make your arcade sticks compatible with this game. So far people have been suggesting the use of PPJOY to allow for 2 players on the same arcade stick (x-arcade, hotrod). This is all well and good, until you upgrade to a 64bit operating system. So far there is no solution for IPAC controllers (x-arcade, hotrod, many other enthusiast joysticks) under a 64 bit os (XP64, Vista64, Windows 7 64). If you use or ever plan on updating to a 64 bit operating system, hold off on this purchase until Capcom provides a real solution. (A previous poster mentioned the lack of 64 bit support, but I felt the warning should be prominent) |

What Micro said.
I'm going to get 2 U360 Controllers I think as I *believe* (but am not 100% sure so please confirm or reject this) that they show up as joysticks and thus should work fine. I just can't believe that such a simple option has been ignored. CAPCOM REP - PLEASE TELL THE PROGRAMMERS THAT PEOPLE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS. They could probably make a patch to fix this in a few hours! We're not talking about a lot of work here.

IPACs (what is used to control real arcade joysticks) obviously don't have this limitation. |

This is a MAJOR let down... I was all anxious and about to walk out the door to go purchase SF 4 for PC. I decided to do a little research before going out just to see how the game was running on peoples setups. Now, I find that something as simple as allowing 2 players to be mapped to a keyboard was not included... I too use an IPAC4 keyboard encoder to play on my arcade cabinets. This small exclusion of allowing 2 players to be mapped to keyboard is a real pisser... Unfortunately this just changed my mind and I will not be purchasing the game now at all. I'm glad I did my research before running out and buying this. CAPCOM should have done their research into how people would be playing this game from their computers. |

Is it possible to assign 1p to keyboard and 2p to one gamepad? Or will i have to buy a 2nd gamepad? |
