SFIV PC - 2 players on keyboard

Bill, thanks for the info about the program!

I FINALLY have 2 player support on my Arcadeinabox cab with Ipac.

The hard part was knowing that i had to configure the controller pad in the launcher, and then after that, setting the proper button configuration to match was programmed.  It took me forever to get the proper keys working.

Please note that this is pretty confusing to do if you don't have a picture of an Xbox-S or 360 pad in front, so you know what "X", "Y", R/L, and Triggers correspond physically to the unit.

**ALSO**

For any of you that have the keyboard bound to keys for P1 directly in SF4:Remove the binds if they're interfering with the PPJoy settings.

Hopefully something for Vista will come from someone, unless Capcom gets on the ball...

I suggest EVERYONE with xarcades, Ipacs and other keyboard encoders email capcom about full 2 player keyboard support.  This is a MAJOR "whoops" by a company that otherwise makes great games.  I guess someone there forgot that USB gamepads aren't the only thing hardcore people use....

Dazz, did you see the workaround posted about 5 posts above yours by BILL?

Yes, I saw the suggested workaround...  However, PPJoy is not an option on 64bit OS's.  This really is something that Capcom should have done a little more market sampling when it come to the PC versions.

I think someone at Capcom simply forgot about us.

Capcom is fully aware of the existance of high end custom arcade cabinets that use keyboard encoder hardware, as they themselves were involved with making some of their old Street Fighter 2 ROMS legally purchaseable (and thus, being a legal owner), if you bought a Hotrod controller years ago.  (there may have been a similar agreement with Capcom or Atari with X-arcade as well).

But with all the ruckus about the Xbox 360 and the new batch of arcade controllers (there was barely anything like this before the original Xbox came out), with the explosion of fighting games appearing on Live, I think everyone forgot about the PC crowd.

I'll take my ArcadeInABox with Happs optical 360's over a Madkatz stick any day. (especially since I paid $325 for it...)

I'm glad I'm not alone in this.  I have a MAME cabinet with a control deck from the now bankrupt Slik Stik that uses an IPAC and I quickly realized once I hooked it up that there was no way to get the 2nd player to use the keyboard, thus rendering the the controller useless.

I cannot fathom how during the development of this game nobody at Capcom had any such PC controllers that use an IPAC, something that is fairly common among PC gamers, especially for fighting games.

Furthermore since I'm using a 64bit OS, I cannot use PPJoy.

Please Capcom, please add this feature to a future update.

It's been a while since the mod posted in this thread.  Can we at least get an acknowledgement that this incredibly large *whoops* as referenced earlier has been passed on to the developers?

Hi

i am pretty new in the arcade thing. But I bought myself an x-arcade tankstick that works just fine in my cabinet.

But I am reading the ppjoy workaround for the SF4 controller problem. but I think i am missing something here.

I used the ini files provided by BILL configured the sfivlauncher like the screenshots. But not being such a controller addict i simply dont know what button to link to what keyboard key.

I have a feeling this is a stupid question, but can you tell me exactly what button on your x-arcade you linked to what keyboard key? using your ini files and the screenshot sfivlaucher settings?

Thanks in advance

Probably would need to start a new thread specifically for the 64-bit OS as this thread is probably flagged as "already addressed".
