I've searched the forum and this may sound dumb but...If you buy SFIV for PC at a store will you be able to play those that buy SFIV off of steam? |

yes, for more details read below
Steam and Retail are pretty much the same thing, they are the interface for which u can buy the game, the only difference is Retail is somewhere you can physical go in and purchase the game, where as Steam is a virtual store where you can purchase the game and download it.
No matter where you buy the Street Fighter 4 PC game, you will be able to play with any other gamer no matter where they purchased the game.
Matchmaking will be setup by GFWL(Games for Windows Live), a free service which allow players to compete online against other players in online games. |

Yes. They all use Games for Windows Live for matching (regardless of how or where you purchase it).
