this is for the PC version. when i try to play online in the game, i get this error "online play via xbox live is not available with the current gamer profile" i set up my GFW live account mainly when i bought GTA IV and later on Dawn of war 2.
on the boxset it says that online play is free, but if a GFW LIVE GOLD account is required, then i have to play 50 a month to play SFIV online??!!!?? or is there something wrong with my account. can someone tell me and/or help me out here please? thanks. |

There has to be something wrong on your end. GFWL is now completely free, and has been for a few months now. There is no gold or silver anymore, the full thing is free. |

GWL has been totally free for over a year now. I use my 360 gamertag on PC + 360 and both work as they should. |

Regularly, a silver account is free but if you register for a gold account, I believe it's 5 dollars a year.

Online play is free. There must be something wrong with your account. Try creating a new account, see if that works. Assuming it does, it's time to get in touch with MS and see why your existing account isn't working. Secondarily, upon installation, did you enter the GFWL key code that came with your game?

i've tried different accounts already ( i have 2,well actually only one.i kind of "took over" someone else's xbox live account because he used my email and well, MSN LIVE! and xbox LIVE got "tied" together somehow due to MS's stupidity.) i can play online once in a awhile if i reset my comp, say like every 1 out of 3 resets..i have no idea whats going wrong >.< i can play the game at max settings at a fixed 60fps!!! |

That sounds like a handshaking issue. There are lots of possible causes for that but a router configuration problem is easy enough to rule out. Is it possible for you to remove your router and plug your cable or DSL modem straight into your PC and see if you're still having an issue?

tried that , doesn't work. i tried to open the ports that Live! uses as well , still the same. |
