Locked: Resident Evil Outbreak Series

Come on Capcom has there not been any talk about a new one?! You guys have to admit that this series had a very strong run on the inferiorer PS2 for 3 years compared to Resident Evil 5's quickly dying fan base. For a company that loves money can you imagine what you guys could do if you combined File 1 and File 2 with a whole new set of scenarios on one disk for the 360, all the DLC you can upload, etc. etc. Not only this it would seriously satisfy all the old school Resident Evil fans with the old style 3rd person camera angles, for all the vets that really don't like where the new series is going. Outbreak was a fantastic series that even made some people go to the Japanese servers after the closing of the American/European servers, myself included. I got myself into deep crap with my bank for it too because the KDDI service seriously screwed w/ my account when I cancelled it when I couldn't afford it anymore, that's some dedicated fans is it not?

The coop monster hunter games do great in japan.  Couldn't the resident evil outbreak series reach such a success too?

They DID great in Japan,  but like every PS2 game, they've slowly died down. The Outbreak series were ground breaking, there hasn't been a game like that back then where you could either help each other survive, let them die, or go at it alone. It was amazing and now all you have is this action/shooter crap on XBL, there is not one game I can think of to this date besides Outbreak that focused more on surviving through Multiplayer rather than hack/slash/and shoot everything that moves to keep on going. Outbreak had so much replayability, people on that game could spend HOURS on it. I personally put almost 600 hours on there if you add up all my times (just on one file) StarsUBCS has over 2000 played hours, you can't get that with Resident Evil 5, even if you add up going through the entire game 4 times on each difficulty, every mercenaries level, and every versus level.

Resident Evil 5 is so stale now and it's only been out since what? March? That's the problem with these action/shooter games, they die fast because they're just not that fun after doing the same thing over and over which is basically shooting. The only shooting game that can hold it's ground is Call of Duty and that's because the game was primarily focused on multiplayer so versus in that game doesn't get stale unlike Resident Evil 5. Outbreak allowed you to have multiple paths, puzzles, etc. etc. Outbreak had a strong fan base that felt very betrayed by Capcom's decision, especailly after no announcements of at least trying to please us with a new Outbreak after the action/adventure garbage they gave us known as Resident Evil 4 and 5? I'm happy and all that Capcom got their money and a whole new Leon Kennedy fanboy group but what about the original fans that have been by Resident Evil's side since the beginning? We didn't originally start playing this game because it was fun to hunt down zombies and kill them.

I agree with you on Outbreak. They need to bring it back. The only problem with it being released with the last gen console was that not very many people were playing games online yet with their consoles. But now with the PSN and XBL their are more gamers playing online now compared to the last gen. So if they do release a Outbreak #3 I think it will do much better then its predecessors. But then again we have to think is Capcom willing enough to make time to make another one?

What's with all the random PS2 bashing?  PS2 "inferior" to what?  The next generation consoles?

And MH isn't doing as well on PS2 anymore?  When was the last one released on PS2 anyway?  And who cares?  That's like saying "Man, gamecube games aren't seling well anymore at all."  It's obvious, and so what?  Just say Outbreak could do well on the current generation of consoles or something.  I think I got what you were trying to say, it just seemed worded oddly.

Outbreak File #3 with MT Framework 2.0 graphics, GFWL cross platform play, and mod support would DESTROY Left 4 Dead.

I'll save Sven some time by saying that yes more RE is never a bad thing but officially there is nothing planned for the Outbreak series at this time.

Capcom Unity! Mod powers... RESTORED!

Now Playing: Mass Effect 2, Modern Warfare 2, Metro 2033, Red Dead Redemption, and lots more.

No I don't know why there is so much white space below this...

I know right?! Outbreak didn't even need Outbreak File 2 to come out yet just to keep it's fans like L4D does. Outbreak 2 was just released for the hell of it, Outbreak 1 was doing great for an online game at that time and didn't need any backbone. Capcom must really hate their loyal Resident Evil fans if they can't be lazy enough to combine two games together and add in extra scenarios that were already completed since Capcom is known for their recycling, porting, and laziness. No offense but it's kind of obvious what the fans want.

i agree with what your saying, but i think your being harsh. saying capcom dont care about their customers. i think they do, but they are a company that NEEDS to make money, fact, and if something wont make money back there is no point in doing it, but saying this outbreak WILL make its money back. for example on line play wasnt as huge as it is now. on lin eplay is basically a must now with any game. and out break is such a fantastic survival horror game and its scary, although your playing with people you still feel alone, its great. L4D is a great game dont get me wrong but as many ppl have already said on various forums, a new outbreak or the old ones released as download games, they would beat L4D hands down. i know outbrak 2 didnt do as well, but it was released way to close to number 1 and they were very similar. please capcom just release the originals as download games so we can play them on line. i would pay 20 or 30 pounds happily fo outbreak one or both as a combined game for DLC. please. you know you want to :) also the amount of threads i see on here asking about outbreak...

vote for the resident evil outbreak port! wooo
