SVEN: Thanks for continuing to read and notice our support. If I had one message to give is to please give the series another chance. I honestly think Darkstalkers has suffered from some bad distribution in the past, and that's part of the reason why it probably hasn't been too successful in the US. A re-release of this series similar to HD Remix could change all of that.

Listen, some people are interested in the story, alright? You've already expressed several times that discussing the subject seriously irritates you. I don't know why that is. Either way, and no hard feelings, but some of us are gonna keep doing it, ok? Thanks.

Also, I don't think Vampire Savior 2 is canon. According to the plot guide, the only two games that are canon are Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Vampire Savior.

There's no difference in the story between Vampire Savior and Vampire Savior 2. There are no individual character endings in either game, so the ending sequences are the same in both.

My personal thought for the future for Darkstalkers has always been that the series has to evolve in someway. And introducing new characters and archetypes are 1 type of evolution.

Darkstalkers hasn't been around for years. It hasn't gotten nearly enough recognition or exposure to consider that the characters need to be cycled out. It's not like Street Fighter where we've been seeing the same unchanged characters. Certainly Darkstalkers shouldn't remain stagnant, but I honestly don't think it's anywhere near that at this point.

I will say this, the series doesn't have a reason to go backwards and build going forward like SF4 did and that's because VS2 got it so right in the first place where as SF3 alienated a lot of people so Ono-san had to de-evolve the series in order to make something that we all see worked.

Well, even in Japan, the Vampire games didn't get a whole lot of tournament level play. And high-level tournament play is where the game system and balance would be really tested. To us and all the non-tournament players, the balance and system in Darkstalkers probably seems flawless. In my case, I've seen very little darkstalkers tournament play (it was in SBO years ago), and I saw a very limited subset of characters being used so it's possible the current balance isn't very good, for example.

EDIT: Wow, I had to leave my half-written post hanging for like an hour, and in that time there's been a whole new page of posts. This is starting to get hard to keep up with. Crazy.

I'm not sure maybe you know someone in japan thats in the scene in which case. I will kneel before ya argument. However, if you don't know someone from there I will say that I can plenty of vids from the darkstalkers festivals they had a while back, Mi-Ka-Do videos, and other countless recent tourneys they've been having on the game. Trust me I can find a lot of recent videos. Just saying

Everyone give support for Four Players option aka Cross Fever for Tatsunoko vs Capcom: UAS update for the console version. Go to the Tatsunoko general discussion and ask for this.

Okay very few can be remix. but I prefer that there should be and option to switch between classic and remixed. The only problem is that there are a lot of songs, so I say they should pick each character's (the ones who appeared in The first Darkstalkers and Night Warriors) most popular song (song that heard in other Capcom games) and remix it and put it in the game. maybe it's a good idea to ask you guys, so if some of you can write up a song list for each character go ahead and post it.
P.S. The characters that first appeared in DS3/VS1 can use the song from that game .
Felicia is constantly checking her mail for Ono-san's new darkstalkers invitation.

I joined here for the purpose of showing my support at the idea of a new Darkstalkers game released !

I want Capcom to know that not only american players are interested. Back here in France, and in Europe in general, we lack an arcade scene even more than you guys, but fighting games are coming back via online features, Street Fighter IV is quite popular among the gamers I know, as MVsC2, and I believe a rerelease of Darkstalkers could gather people.

Then I'd suggest for Capcom the less expensive alternative, that is to say a Darkstalkers Chronicles port with online match (possibly with HD filters, but I wouldn't cry over it ) and sale rates will talk for themselves. Having all stages from the three games would be wonderful, but not a must have. Having every character is definitely important, the more you hook up people on these lovely designs the best it is :p. And for a competitive point of vew, everyone would be satisfied I believe.

The key is communication, the game looks so good even today, the characters are so charismatic that it will attract people. A few suggestions though, on how to make the game more accessible (and by accessible I don't mean only easier to play, but as well easier to get interested in ;)) :

A free playable demo would be a catch : let's say one or two playable characters, with versus mode enabled and arcade mode for two or three matches (this way people can see other characters they could play and want to play them, and then buy the game.)

Keeping the "easy" input commands from the psp version as an option would allow a lot a people to play right now with more experienced players, and that is the best way to build a community.

So you've understood my personnal answer would be yes, I would buy anything with the name Darkstalkers on it, and would let my friends play it so they'll like it and so on. I can even imagine running tourneys.

And while people think about what could be DS4, I may add to the debate. Imagine that the rerelease sells well, has a real audience, but not as much that it would justify an expensive SF4 treatment ? Nevermind, the game is so good, why not have a game designer + programmer + sprite artist patch the game with some more and totally new characters (and backgrounds ?). Imagine a contest where you guys could "design" the concept of a new character, and the winner would have HIS character in the actual game. It has never been done before, and I believe it's not impossible. That kind of fan service builds a strong community, and only from a strong community can arise bigger things.

Now, everyone with me : I believe in Darkstalkers !

Any version of Vampire with good netcode and online play = instant buy for me. A proper HD treatment and I'd pay ridiculous money if I had to! Laughing

After lurking around here for a while, I finally created an account so that I could also throw my support for a new Darkstalkers; however, I am only interested in a Wii version.  A Wii Darkstalkers game (a real one, not some spin-off) would be an instant day-one purchase for me.

Please don't leave us Wii owners out in the cold.

I'm going to be honest: I wouldn't *mind* seeing a HDR of a Vampire game, but I wouldn't bee too enthusiastic about it. I had Vampier Saviour for Saturn (STILL the best version to date!) and played it quite a bit, but nothing like what I did with my SF games or the VS. games. While I don't regret buying it, I never got that much into it. It also didn't help that none of my friends played it or took it seriously. And with so *many* fighters either out now or in the pipeline, I can't say I would probably get into an HDR version of VS. Unless you can make a project like this on the cheap, I don't think it would be worth the investment.

Honestly, I'd be more interested in new Vampire game (where's my runour Vampire Soldier that I heard about eons ago?). And even *that* isn't likely to generate too much interest either.

BTW, if there's at all a HDR of a Vampire game in the works, PLEASE use Vampire Hunter's round system and not Vampire Saviour's lousy stock system. It would also be nice if you could use the more powerful and interesting Vampire Hunter characters as a base. Thanks.

Agreed, Vampire Savior characters and strategy is just watered down Vampire Hunter and most people don't even know it :)

Also yes, rounds need to return. Forget the Killer Instinct style stock thingy...

To be honest this was a thought I had back in 97-98 when SF3 first came out wondering if this was the road that the series was going to take. This is 2009 and I still don't know. Take it for what you will. Also I never said that the series has to take such a dramatic turn right this second. I do understand that in order to do something like that that Vampire/Darkstalkers would have to be reintroduced in someway back to the world before anything that I said could happen. Even then it seems like looking into how the series could progress possibly in the future is a scary thought for some of you. As far as popularity goes, more people know about this game then something like Battle Circuit. Which is a game that gets absolutely no love or shine at all. Darkstalkers isn't much of a Capcom black sheep as you think. The series has had been involved in many crossover titles and I can't remember the last time someone mentioned Battle Circuit that wasn't me.

I'll be the first to admit that Lei-Lei and Aulbath gets a lot of play when it comes to VS but the reason why it's so good because the majority of the matchups are so close that any character can win at anytime.

High level Vampire Savior gameplay via Mi-Ka-Do. Use that as a starting point and just watch.

I understand that this series and all its characters are loved and revered. On the same token I also want to see this series evolve into something way better that what it is currently. But I ultimately know that these things can only happen 1 victory at a time. In order to see my thoughts turn into possible reality, we first have to convince Sven and the crew that this is something worth investing in. Not only to us the loyal fans but Capcom the business as well. We'll just have to wait and see what comes from all of this.

What I think about the current music is that some of it is not very melodic, so they're not songs with strong themes (you can't sing most of them, for example), and so they're not as iconic or memorable as the Street Fighter ones, for example. I think a remix of those would, for the most part, result in just another set of songs that alot of people maybe didn't recognize to begin with. If they did Remix the music, they should probably try and do it in a way that makes the melodic themes stand out more. Some of the music is great; my favorite theme is Iron Horse Iron Terror.

If remixed music did a great job of bringing out the actual themes in the songs, it'd be great to have it. Though I'd honestly be content with just the original music.

No, I don't know any japanese Darkstalker players. I was actually under the impression that Darkstalkers had been out of a tournament scene for a few years now. If you can link to some recent vids, I'd love that. What I had was from like 2001 or something.

See, we need a dedicated darkstalkers forum section, so we can have a thread about gameplay vids.

I don't really care about which version Capcom would include as long as all of the characters are in it. I hope this game would be released around the early months of 2010.

I also think that we should get new stages.

Please Help Support Darkstalkers HD Remix!
If enough support is made and if this game makes enough profit, then we might be able to get a new Darkstalkers sequel in the style of Street Fighter IV or even better!!!
