Any plans to re-balance mercs mode in RE5 PC version?

Yes I'm talking about "bosses" because those are the only "real" unlockables in fighters. Why do I say real? Because the characters you unlock in SF4 aren't really anything new, they were just added on from the arcade version because people wanted them. They are previously established characters and there is simply no point for them to be unlockable in the first place.

Their sense of reward is just from nostalgia, since they are rediculously easy to unlock. Most people don't even bother getting Seth, or just do it to get the achievement, simply because he isn't really worth it. Same goes for Soul Calibur 4 (which does have some banned chars mind you). Established characters really aren't going to change that much. They just leave them locked to artificially lengthen the single player experience.

Wesker was already established to be a badass, from wall running in code veronica to thrust punching 5 zombies dead in RE4 mercs to teleporting in RE5 (npc). They pretty much significantly toned him down already, there is no need to down him down even further, he is supposed to wreck **** Surprised and that is just too bad for serious competitive play.

Do you realize how unfair that statement is? There ARE people out there who treat the mode seriously, and for those people there's only one single option for high scoring runs, and that is the cobra strike. It has little to do with him "designed to be powerful", it's pretty much coincidental. Every character has melees which works great for the +5 seconds bonus, Wesker just happens to have this one move which is noticably better than the other characters and is easy to spam with some practice. It would have an overall small effect on the character if his cobra strike dealt less damage, and no effect on the character at all if the +5 second bonus was changed (although you'd definitely see a LOT more variations for the choices of character on high scoring runs).

Yes I realize how unfair that statement is, but that is just how it is, it is the nature of his character. I'm not saying don't tweak the time bonus (like with freezing the timer), but altering Wesker himself is a big no.

Heck I'm guessing that if RE5 was Mikami's game, Wesker would be even more powerful.

You cannot be serious about this!!!

To unlock Wesker you must obviously play through and earn the right so why change that on PC as that would unbalance things and mean why bother unlocking a less powerful character. Its not required especially as PC players will find other ways to cheat anyway. Any effort to change the balance would be a waste of Capcom's resource!

Why can't the unlockable mercenaries be like the different weapon unlocks in TF2? They aren't superior, just different and they cater to different play styles.

The best thing to do is to make an option for the merc. Like, make it 2 type. A normal one, like it is now, and RE4 type one.

I'm only talking about VERY minor changes here. Only players going for top scores would notice the difference if the +5 second bonus melee was changed.

You bring up a good point that the PC version might get hacked and people would cheat, but for now I'm assuming Capcom would be able to handle that. If they don't, then the leaderboards will be completely useless unfortunately.

Well seeing how there are trainers that can actually stop the timer for RE4, it's not too far fetched to assume the same thing is very likely to happen with RE5.....unfortunately.
