I was wondering why this demo is not coming to the PSN also? PS3 gamers also like to have fun. |

This is a very good question. I don't care if it comes a little late since the game is so far off, but I really would like to play it. |

This has echoes of the way they avoided confirming the PS3 version for so long for no good reason. If your multiplatform strategy involves taking marketing money to conveniently forget to mention another version of the game, alienating half your HD fanbase in the process... you probably should rethink it. The stinks just like the RE5 demo and the LP2 announcement avoidance. What's it going to take for you to start treating us like properly like your 360-using customers? Last time I checked we still paid the same price for your games and we still bought plenty of them. edit: Even if we do end up getting the demo at some point, the lack of details is distressing. It always is. Don't get me started over the MvC2 delay situation and how we knew absolutely nothing the whole time. How else can we get through to you to let you know that it's unacceptable? I already bought TvC and Fate/Unlimited Codes once and though I'd like for them to do well in the US, I don't feel good about throwing additional money at a company that cares nothing for my main interests and doesn't care that their fans on PS3 are constantly in suspense, left wondering when they'll get some scraps if at all. It's tiresome. It really is. We don't want excuses or misguided attempts at making up for past transgressions. We want the same demos and products at the same time, and of the same quality. If we're not going to get them, which should not be the case, we sure as hell deserve to know why. Why should we accept less? |

A demo release right now would not serve much purpose in terms of marketing. The game itself is not coming out until 2010 and I'm sure we'll see a PS3 demo by then to coincide with release which would better serve marketing purposes. The only reason the 360 demo is coming out so early is probably due to the fact that the demo is already done (for E3 purposes of course) and the fact that MS and Capcom have a marketing deal that probably involved an early demo and the whole "announcement business". This marketing deal probably carries over to the timed exclusive demo for RE5 as well. Capcom most likely has not whipped up a PS3 demo yet (no sign of a PS3 build at E3 after all) and would be better served to release the demo about a month before release to build up hype. However, I do agree with Beyond on the fact that Capcom's behavior regarding Lost Planet 2 has been beyond bizarre. Especially the fact that they refused to announce the PS3 version until E3 (even though the game is simultaneous release for both platforms which means it was planned for the PS3 since the beginning). Why do this to a platform that makes up more than 50% of your sales for multiplatform next gen titles? |

If anything, shouldn't they be bending over backwards to win over the PS3 audience this time, rather than leave them until the last minute? Most of the PS3 users I know who aren't Capcom diehards don't have a terribly high opinion of LP due to our port of the first and if anything they need more reason to get hyped for it than the 360 audience would after the success of the original LP and Colonies. |

A demo released a month ahead of release would do just as good of a job as a demo released six months prior to release towards convincing fans of quality. So long as Capcom at least releases a demo, their sales on the PS3 should be fine. However, it has been shown that when no demo has been released, PS3 sales suffer (Bionic Commando), not that the demo helped 360 sales... Unfortunately, the marketing deal probably ties Capcom's hands A LOT so they are limited in what they can do. Hell, the fact that they weren't allowed to announce the PS3 version until E3 shows you the extent of that marketing deal. The said marketing deal would probably also prevent them from commenting about a possible time frame for a PS3 demo as well. But you have to remember this. The LP2 demo is the same as the E3 demo meaning not much extra work is needed to get it to people. However, no such demo yet exists for the PS3 which means extra effort must be put towards it. That extra effort will take away from resources developing the game and is not a good idea to do. That is why the demo will be made near the tail end of development for the PS3 version. |

I really hope that deal is done with soon. Despite my best efforts I'm losing my faith in them ever getting this stuff straight.
Maybe I don't understand correctly, but I thought the point of MT Framework was to make the game easily portable between platforms that support the engine? If the demo was developed on PC and then moved to 360 for E3 and such, why couldn't they do the same for PS3? Extra work? Certainly, but this is supposedly a Capcom who has sworn off exclusives. Shouldn't they be willing to put the work in? Even if you don't agree, it's hard to argue with the fact that they should not enter marketing agreements that do not allow them to comment on things like this. Explanations and transparency go a hell of a long way but time after time they refuse to adequately explain to PS3 fans why the things that make them angry continue to happen. Hey, maybe it's because there is no good reason. Hard to tell. What a mess. |

While MT Framework is a multiplatform engine, you can't exactly just move assets back and forth between the two platforms. It wasn't designed like that (as a side note, idTech 5 was designed to do exactly that!). Furthermore, you don't seem to realize that that extra work now means diverting resources from the development of the PS3 version, hampering its development. With PS3 development traditionally trailing 360 development due to the unique Cell architecture, it is not wise to delay development any further. After all, you want the PS3 version to launch alongside the 360 version right? Yes, it is annoying. But with most of its Lost Planet sales occurring in the US, Capcom must have thought it was a good idea to make a marketing deal with MS at the time. They probably regret it now, especially since RE5 and SFIV sold more on the PS3 worldwide. For all we know, this marketing deal was made when LP was still a 360 exclusive! While transparency would be nice, if Capcom were to choose between angering PS3 fans and angering a corporation (MS in this case) when disclosing private information about a deal, they would always choose angering the fans. Because lets be honest. Outside of a vocal few, not many PS3 owners are really angry with Capcom. |

Looks like they don't want to market properly PS3 versions of their games or demos. If they waited months to even mention the PS3 version of Lost Planet 2, I seriously doubt they even release a demo in PSN. And if they do, it will be announced and released some time after the XBL demo. I can't understand why, but it happened before with other games and demos. Maybe the PS3 demo will exist, but Capcom won't talk about it during certain time, won't include it in their PR press releases and maybe it even only will be showed to the press. Why sometimes Capcom only talk about XBox360 versions of their games or demos in PR? Why they don't talk about PS3/PSN versions until certain time? Maybe it's because they have something with MS, maybe it's because Sony charges them bandwith fees and ask to localize it, or maybe it's because they prefer to spend their budget destined to PSN in PS1 games. I think they aren't so stupid to ignore of 23+ million users userbase, some of they who buy Capcom games even if they are released late or bad. There should be a logic reason to don't release or announce a PS3 demo, but it's unknown. |

Since the mods don't want us talking about this anywhere else, I guess it's time to take it back here. What gives, Capcom? If the game's behind on PS3, you can tell us. If Microsoft secured exclusive rights to the demo, you can tell us. It'd be even better if you told us for how long. The longer you go without telling us a thing the more frustrated everyone gets, and it's only going to get worse tomorrow and onward. I'd say if the PS3 demo didn't drop the day the silver XBL version did you'd have messed up big time, but I'm pretty sure that's already happened. You're putting your fans in a bad place and limited edition empty boxes do not help. Please give us some good news for once. |
