Having Okami hit the DS is like a dream come true. Although I have doubts concerning the current Team working on this, anticipation has the best of me.

What's odd is Inafune's comment a few months back where he basically sniped at Clover's games by saying sequals were "not likely or appealing." I chalked it up to bad blood between Inafune and the Clover lads, but obviously this sequal was in development when he made the comment. I wonder what was really going on. |

So I have a followup question, then... Now that there is an official sequel to Okami, does Capcom consider it an 'active' franchise? In the same way that, say, Resident Evil or Devil May Cry are 'active' and have a reasonably high chance of having full fledged sequels and spin offs made about them? I guess what I'm getting at is...assuming this game is successful, is the DS the likely new home for any other potential future Okami games? Or does this actually increase the likelihood of getting a full fledged sequel with Amaterasu on consoles? Right now, I kind of am starting to view Okamiden as a spin off, in the same way that the Zelda handheld games are spin offs of the Zelda console games. heh- or should I ask this question again after TGS?
Either way, I say kudos for ANY new Okami. This instantly moved to the top of MY most anticipated games for 2010 list. I've seen some bitching from 'hardcore' gamers on the internet and I find that quite tragic...but this is the internet, so...it's to be expected :\ |
