OH MAN Cry That really sucks. The fixed turning speed might have worked on consoles but with M/K setup it feels like you are fighting the controls thus making the game unenjoyable. So there are no chances of a future patch (or mod) that could add an option to disable the fixed turning?

As is the case with most everything I would never say its impossible for a patch to come out, but it does seem very unlikely at this point.

Now Playing: Halo 3: ODST, Halo 3, Need for Speed Shift, Call of Duty 4, Battle Stations Pacific.

iirc, this was the same thing in the console versions. Standing still, the turning rate was as fast as any other console FPS, but when you started to walk/run, the turning radius was huge. Hearing that aiming speed while at stand-still is the same as a normal PC FPS, I think I'm satisfied.

I was just about to start a thread about this.  I can't even enjoy this game because of the mouse sensitivity while walking..  The mouse sensitivity while standing, aiming, and running is fine, but the mouse control while walking is unacceptable (for me).  In fact I think the sensivity has less lag when running than walking..  I can't play this game..  but the game itself is so cool, it's a shame that something as fundamental and simple as moving a cursor can ruin it for me.  It's gotten such positive reviews, I guess this game is just not for me. :) They should really provide a playable demo..

The first time I played RE4 on my Cube, I could not stand the controls.  Then later when I tried it again on the Wii, I liked the aiming part, but the movement still bugged me.  I just had to get used to its controls, which took me a few hours of playtime.  After that, I was no longer bothered by them and I'm glad I didn't give up, because it's one of the best console games I've played in years.

Anyways, if you guys can get past the oddness of RE5's controls and use work arounds -- like briefly letting up on the keys to turn sharply, I'm sure you'll eventually reach that point where the game's strengths outweigh any annoyances.  Think about when you're running in real life, the faster you go, the broader your turning radius.  You still need to slow down to turn sharply without skidding -- if that makes sense?

There's also strafing and the 180˚quick turn around, so there are ways to compensate the slow turning while moving, it just takes more practice with this game, as it's not a FPS.

Anyways, RE5 PC was well worth the wait for me at least. The controls are what they are, at least the most important part(aiming), wasn't hindered.

If the mouse isn't cutting it, for $24.99 you can pick up an Mad Catz edition XBOX 360 controller for Windows. Then you can play it just like 360 and PS3 owners do.

Yeah I have no problem with the running sensitivity, it's the sensitivity of looking around while walking I can't stand.

Good point, I haven't utilized that yet.

Good idea, I'll test it out with a gamepad.

I have a Logitech Chillstream (360 knock off), it was only $15 on sale at Frys.  It lacks rumble, but I don't mind as the cooling feature is nice for my hot hands. :)

Anyways, for turning while moving, it's the same as the mouse -- except you can just hold it in the direction you want to turn.  But for aiming or turning while stopped, it's not even remotely close to a mouse in terms of speed -- even on its fastest setting.

I don't have any problems with the controls personally, but it's worth noting that turning with the A and D keys while moving is faster than the mouse. Also, the less force you use on the mouse, the faster you turn.
