In fact, MK vs. DC had characters take damage (shown physical wear) like....

....Superman's cape and shirt getting torn. Batman's mask, cape and shirt starting to fall apart .

If Street Fighter did this also (Ryu's shirt gets ripped off showing buff body, Akuma shown with physical chest) I think this would be cooler than fatalities anyhow.

Since you brought up RATED M for (mature)

How much does this impact sales?

I mean, one of Capcom's biggest single sellers in terms of games is Resident Evil (Rated M).

So how are you certain that if Street Fighter went bloody and gory with a RATED M that it wouldn't attract more adult players?

I only make my case since horror movies rated PG-13 along with Action movies with a PG-13 drive people away from it also.

Example: John Woo's Mission Impossible 2 anybody? Once I heard it was PG-13 I laughed out how corny Tom Cruise is.

I like that idea of physical wear & all that.

It's proven, the lower the rating, the more accessible it is.

More people can buy it. I've heard of a couple of games (none come to mind at the moment) where the devs where cutting things to get a Teen rating.

Again, if you believe that blood & gore would attract more people, go to the Street Fighter Forum & ask yourself.

Or better yet, try making a thread in shoryuken.com. You'll see what I'm talking about. You'll get flamed.

This isn't about other genres or movies. This is about fighting games & the fighting community.

I agree with you on all other points, but there's a reason the best fighting games are T rated. Blood & gore doesn't appeal to us in fighting games.

@ZHZ90: I would just like a 2D fighter with 3D graphics (2.5D) Street Fighter style for the most part, figure out a way to implement Brutalities & all that, OPTIONAL dash & block buttons. That's pretty much it.

Controls are something very important. I don't want to see one button specials or supers. I'm all for making a game accessible to the casual as well as the hardcore, but I'm against over simplifying a game to the point where it takes no skill.

I'd totally buy this game! Weird, I was just thinking about SF Vs MK earlier today. Maybe Capcom and whoever does MK (think TC said it was Midway) to make this project happen :)

Yama, at 38:38 Ed Boon says not only is he a fan of Capcom and Street Fighter.

He sounds like he'd love to see it happen.

A MK vs. Street Fighter game.

I'd buy this game too!

Obtaining the license (from Warner Bros) and creating and agreeing on a fighting engine is the only obstacles.

Agreed.

That was a good interview, though a bit dated.

There was still a Midway then. I don't know if he still has any rights to MK.

Anyone know whats up with the MK license? Is it Warner Bros only? Does Boon have any say?

Me and the vast majority of gamers would buy SF vs MK, without hesitation.  Maybe SNK is big in Japan, but the MK series is much bigger in the us of a, and probably Europe.  Nearly every gamer has had dreams of Subzero vs Ryu, E Honda Vs Lui Kang, etc...hah.. The question of violence is a non issue since MK VS DC proved you can make a teen rated Mortal Kombat game.  MK games make millions, SF games make millions, why would Capcom be sitting on its thumb with this one?

threre is only on way this game could be made. because of there diff styles this game would have to be in 2d hd. <- both games do well in 2d.<- something like the blazblue engine.

the gameplay would have to go MK style because MK is a Faster game than SF. haha could you see ryu tryin to just punch scorpion and not combo him?

sorry but just like the youtube link in this tread, the GAMEPLAY would have to go the MK way. SF chars are to SLOW or you combo downgrade MK chars to fight slow<-- a very bad idea!!!

ether the the MK way or no way at all.... you pick......
