It's possible, maybe Jun can use the RE5 engine (with some added features, like aiming/shooting while waking which Oubtreak 2 introduced.) , and study the gameplay designs that made Outbreak games so great back then. If introduced to the current generation, it could blossom into a new popular series. the scenarios should still be open ended and offer tons of skins/models to play as. The 8 character class format of the first games would be great too, and it would be very cool if the original 8 characters return as well as playables. Of course the core of Outbreak is the teamwork and replay value. Plus all of the collection features like the unlockable playables, the artwork, videos, music, difficulty modes ,etc. really made the Outbreak series the most rewarding survival horror games ever where two playthroughs are not alike. And with many different scenarios, each with their own complexity and multiple solutions to advance and survive, made things better. The only rough edge about the games were that the zombie mode was not done right. If a player becomes a zombie, it should be CPU controlled, that way players don't get hated by their friends for attacking them, and at the sametime, CPU controlled zombie would maintain the immersion that a zombified person would attack their former allies. Also there should be no indicator that shows how close you are to 100% infection, because it spoils the surprise, and would just make things too easy when in an actual situation, there's no telling if someone's infected before its too late. It's just part of the unexpected moments that makes it more fun. also the scenario enviornments should be nonlinear as possible, as some great scenarioes like Wild Things has taught us in Outbreak 2. With the new hardware of this generation, it would be amazing what Capcom can create for an Outbreak 3. But if it's too story driven, I think it will limit its gameplay potential. Also 4 player co-op is a must. :) Show those developers at Valve how a true online survival horror game is presented Capcom! And avoid the bad arcadey habits that kind of made RE4 and RE5 trip. Outbreak games are a masterpiece that it would take a novel to explain, but some examples is how you can shoulder players to help them walk faster, handing items/weapons/ammo to player naturally, holding a door closed so enemies are delayed in entering the room. a large amount of breakable melee weapons. different classes of survivors (some can take more damage, some run faster, some have special abilities like critical damage shots, dodging, etc.) Personal Items that have a cool class based style. (like one can use lockpicks, another can hold more items, another can create weapons combining certain items, etc.) there is much potential in the Outbreak series! but please avoid arcade elements (like picking up gold/treasure to buy weapons.) |

Why not just use the "Dead Rising" engine to make a new "OutBreak 3" ?
Forget the RE4 & RE5 engine.

I never had a chance to play any of the Resident Evil Outbreak games, but they always seemed to be truly rooted in the survival horror/grou survival element that the game seems lacking these days. It really looked like a horror movie done as a game. With the online co-op aspect, I would say now is as good a time as any to bring back the franchise. Especially with better structured online networks this time around compared to last generation. It would be like Zombie Panic Source! except there would be a story to drive the game. |

I support a classic RE Franchise Reboot. Just say "no" to online multiplayer!
