Inside Games has a summary of a report from today's Nikkei Industrial stating that Capcom plans on bringing a game engine over to the Wii in an effort to improve development efficiency. The Inside Games summary does not specifically mention MT Framework, but it does state that the engine is normally used for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Hey Capcom guys, saw this blurb this morning. I'll probably won't get an answer to this one, but hey, I can try right? :P So, is this the Framework Engine? Wouldn't be very surprising, regarding games like Sengoku Basara 3 for instance. Me thinks there will be a lot of Wii/PS3 combo's in the near future.

Consider it an attempt at a consolidation of development pipelines and tools. Please don't read into the statement than is there.

What are we not supposed to read into? If you are porting the MT engine to the Wii then it is obviously because you intend to port MT games to it. There is no other reason to put a game engine on a console unless you plan to use it for games.

Is "consolidation of development pipelines and tools" not good enough a reason? People can use the same tools, work with the same development enviroment regardless of which platform they're developing for.

That doesn't have to necessitate cross-platform games at all. Not to mention that it wouldn't necessarily be a good idea, either. The PC versions of MT framework games already suffer from console limitations in some cases, add in the Wii as well and things would get worse across the board.

I won't. ;) But the description wasn't as clear, because the report only told "it's a engine frequently used on 360/PS3". When thinking about that, one can only think of the MT Framework which supports the bulk of your HD games. But thanks for your quick reply as always Svenn, appreciate it.

Maybe it's because they want to have the option for Wii ports for future games but don't want you to expect that future games will have Wii versions.

Boy, there's nothing quite like that "I don't understand this official statement, but I'm gonna draw uneducated conclusions then take it out on Capcom if they're not correct, despite the fact that Capcom never really said or meant anything remotely similar to what I mistook their statement for!" mentality.

I support a classic RE Franchise Reboot. Just say "no" to online multiplayer!

Capcom Japan just rules, they can do no wrong on the Wii!

It's good to see they're preparing tools for future Wii development - even more power to them!

Yes Capcom Japan announced that they want to bring more ports to the Wii earlier this year.  So this could be the reason.

Or early development for a Wii HD? Version.... If its again an updated Wii then its good to have the engine working when the Wii HD arrives I think.

Or to bring Sengoku Basara 3 to PS3 and Wii? (still want to see how the Wii Version looks cause Capcom fights here against Samurai 3 from Koei and thats really looking good on the Wii with lots of enemies on the screen).

After Capcoms  titles announcment for each platform till may 2010 there are still 1 or 2 WII ones missing that are not announced yet or?

I don't really get this newly released info from Capcom... It's supposed to be good news yet I'm being told not to expect good news... So this is just neutral news then?...
