There seems to be some confusion and mis-information about whether or not the 3rd set of alternates are going to be free or paid DLC. Can this be cleared up now or has this not been decided yet?

I'd like to know as well. Though technically nothing has been announced for the US end of things yet.

They should be free!
SFIV is the only game i know were you have to pay for costumes.
Doa4, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, MK, kof (MI series) All manage to give fans costumes for free without makeing you pay! So why shouldwe ahve to pay for SF costumes?

I wish there was customization like tekken. Not necessarily a create a character mode(I wish) but just to dress up Cammy the way I want to. =)

The way I heard it, one set of character costumes would be free until July 1st which includes Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Gen, and Fei Long. Not sure if that's for all regions though

I'm sure more light will be shed in the months leading up to launch regarding how extra content will work, but we'll be pursuing a strategy similar to the original SFIV release with regard to costumes. They are options for players.

Predictable. What about those fans who dont have access to internet and REALLY wanted the costumes? what about those who like to unlock costumes by beating challenges or arcade because that makes them feel like they are better players that they were before, and feel awarded with those costumes? What about that lame excuse about how the SF4 costumes were DLC because it was unfair to the arcade players to make them free? there's no arcade version of SSF4! what about those fans who were really excited because SSf4 wasnt going to be a full-priced game, but at the end of the day they'll end up paying MORE than a regular fullpriced game to get the game and UNLOCK the alts. that are already on their discs? But well, i knew it would come to this. Nice, Capcom really listen to the fans.

this, if you are really considering charging for an extra costume that's already in the disc .... i don't even want to talk about it, it's just unacceptable

Due to the fact that SFIV's costumes were already on the disc, and that the third set have been shown off prior to release date, it's not too hard to imagine that the third set won't actually be "DLC," but actually mere "unlocks" for content on the disc. Which is despicable, really. Imagine ordering a meal from a restaurant and having the soup locked in a container next to the rest of your food, with the waiter insisting you pay a small additional fee to "unlock" it. "Well, you don't HAVE to have it," he says. "It's your choice." It's ridiculous. Now, if the costumes were made AFTER the game's initial release and went BEYOND the original scope of development (and not on the disc), paying for them would be more than acceptable. While I understand Capcom is business company, I strongly suggest Capcom examine how Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV handled its DLC, as there's probably no greater example of it than that. Or, if Capcom really wanted to be outclassed, take a look at Valve and Team Fortress 2.
