Capcom, No Street Fighter III Third Strike is a slap to the face of Street Fighter fans. To be replaced with a FEM FATALLE TOURNAMENT? Is this just because women, apparantly, cannot compete in the real tournament due to a lack of skill or talent (I can think of no other reason for this). Anyway, I understand Tekken 5 being cut for Tekken 6. They're similar games. But the Street Fighters are outstanding for their brilliant differences between each version. In fact, I feel 3rd Strike is more different than II is from IV. So, I don't get it. Finally, do you have any control over this? You guys are a major contributor to the events, and, if I didn't know any better, a large sponsor, as well. - Ryan/Tryken

EVO games roster is decided by a committee that does include Seth, but is in general not influenced by Capcom. Also, 3S was part of the list of games which you could vote to get into EVO if you were an SRK member.

Femme Fatale tournament is an SRK/EVO matter and has nothing to do with Capcom.

Hi, Yep, I vote on the EVO board, but Capcom has no involvement in it. A couple of points: 1) Based on our expectations in terms of turnout, the women's event isn't "replacing" anything. We could not run an SFIII: Third Strike tournament (or an MVC2 tourney, etc.) with the resources we are expecting to devote to the women's invitational. We would like to try and continue to expand the Fighting Game Community, as we have always done, first with Vs games, then 3D, and beyond. Every time we do this, there is a lot of complaining, but after we've done it, the result is usually a better, bigger, and more powerful community. Women must compete in the SSFIV main event to even be eligible, btw. 2) Third Strike was the least popular game at EVO 2009. That doesn't mean it isn't still played, and isn't still a great game, it just means that the community behind the game is not as strong as it once was, or has currently become interested in other titles. There were a lot of great games on the borderline of inclusion this year, with none clearly stronger than the rest in terms of community support so far. To break our internal tie, we thought we would let the community decide in a very direct way, so you can indeed vote for the game you'd like to play there. Finally, no matter what the outcome of the vote, there will be great 3S players and competition at EVO--often the side-tournaments are some of the most fierce, and a lot of fun. best, Seth
Ask me about my beard. Or don't. It's cool either way.

1) Ryan, your statements are pretty sexist. I understand where you are coming from, simply because I myself never play women online or at arcades. Not because I am against the notion, but simply because none are ever present. However, it has nothing to do with skill or talent (in fact, due to the heavy handed presence of tiers, I would wager than an average player using top tier, could beat the most skilled player using low tier). Women simply aren't that interested in fighting games. It doesn't mean there are no females interested, but it simply does not appeal to them. But if you really want to battle head to head with women, why not go take on the Frag Dolls. They are always playing online FPS games and I assure you that you will endure an embarassing defeat. 2) If you are a venerable member of SRK, then you can vote on the games that make the cut. Currently, there is voting going on for Melty Blood Actress Again (which I hope will make it). So, go forth and vote, if you can.

I have bolded some points here. I am a woman and I have been playing Street Fighter for 18 YEARS. Please feel free to compete with me. I can be found on the gamertag on the above post, which seemed to have slipped your attention when you posted this. I will be looking forward to beating you ;) L ;)

Actually, what Ryan is referring to (and is something that has been mentioned at SRK) is that having a "women's tournament" separate from the main tournament may give the impression that women need their own tournament because they cannot compete in the main tournament. So therefore, having a women's only tournament is actually sexist seeing as there's no physical and/or mental impediment to a woman competing and winning against a man in a Street Fighter tournament.
