Did capcom scrap the megaman U project? I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I just hope megaman online is free to play and fun with a story. I want to know how megaman and X team up in amazing anime cutscenes...you know what...screw both games...I want a megaman + megaman X anime!!
 I KNEW IT!

If it was scrapped, I think we'd know about it. Personally, I believe they're doing a LOT more polishing on the game, which is why things are so quiet.
Consider two things:
1) MMU wasn't that well recieved by those who played in 2) Inafune left the project
I believe the silence is due to these two issues. Capcom is working hard at better the game to meet out expectations, which, for all we know, could end up looking or playing a whole lot different. Inafune's leave may have greatly affected the project -- we don't know what his duties specifically were, but I imagine the dev team was restructed to accomodate for his loss with members taking up his duties.
Still, the quiet does bug me to a degree. There's been little to no acknowledgement that the project even exists at this point... no real reassurance that everything is or isn't kosher.

I'm actually quite surprised Sven or someone hasn't responded. It actually makes me more nervous than I initially was when I made this thread.
Particularly when Inafune had left one of his interviews with the prospect of including characters that weren't even from Capcom, the game was shaping up really nicely (though, as mentioned, I wasn't digging the art style as much as Powered Up).
Hopefully it's as you say, that they're simply reorganizing things in development, or simply haven't had anything new to show us. But the more time that passes without response, the more I fear the game may have been quietly swept under the rug.

Unfortunately, I have no new news to share on the project. It's not dead though... and it's changed a lot.

Hmm, exciting stuff! Glad to hear it's not dead, and now I'm even more curious to see what all's changed... :D

I just hope we didn't lose that cool art style.
...that was the first thing to go, wasn't it?

So this is supposed to be an all-encompassing "bravo" title for Megaman?
Has InaFKing's severence from Capcom effected this project and if so, how?
Since this title seems to concentrate on the 80's era of Megaman, how will Capcom mix the old with the new without alienating new fans or boring the heck out of old fans?
Can we see some concept art in the near future?
It was implied that Megaman Universe can be tailored by the fan's imaginations directly. Does this mean user-created content as per Little Big Planet, lots of official made-by-Capcom DLC, or both?
Put Roll in the game. (I'm not asking you I'm telling you). *Jedi hand wave* Roll is classic. *Jedi Stare* More playable characters means better replay value. *Jedi mind trick* Rock and Roll are the droids you are looking for. (I hope you at least got a laugh out of that).*
*Sooner or later Capcom is going to be "forced" to put Roll in the character select roster. Maybe not with MMU. Her presence in Battle Network is appreciated but not exactly satisfying. She is still a girl cliche character instead of a girl role-model, no pun intended. She needs to be personally stronger as a character in my opinion. MMU is your (Capcom's) opportunity to actually do something cool(er) with the classic 80's roster of characters (which is easy because they are kinda cool already), and Roll is part of that roster.
Ahem, more questions.
Ryu and Arthur are seen participating in what has been refferred to as a cereal commercial for MMU. How seriously should we take that?
Is there anything that we can be certain will not be part of the Megaman Universe as far as Capcom content?

Well, Inafune actually said Ryu and Arthur *would* be playable in an interview, as well as possibly some characters not associated with Capcom (he actually said that).
I agree about Roll, though. Even though she was playable in Powered Up (and I'll admit, I loved how many costumes she had to choose from), they could definitely stand to make her a little cooler. Attacking with a broom is funny a first, but it's a fleeting kind of funny, and doesn't leave you with a positive view of the character.
Maybe Roll could incorporate the Zero-style of gameplay? Starting with a broom, in contrast to Rock's pea-shooter buster, but could eventually upgrade it to various other close-quarters weapons? If Rock started out as a simple lab assistant but made the leap to "super fighting robot", why can't Roll?
I have to say, I'm also hoping they make the X series roster playable, to some extent, as well as Protoman and Bass. They may not be directly involved with the story (though it would be *AWESOME* if they revamped the story to include, or at least reference them), they'd be great as unlockable characters, as well as lending new parts to customize with.

I saw some gameplay footage that gave me the impression that story is not a concern with this game. It seems to be modelled after "Little Big Planet" but with cooler character customization. I am happy with that format and I hope the project does very well. This also means that just about any Capcom character you can imagine could theoretically be plugged right into the game. I thought the inclusion of the "Bad Box Art Megaman" was hilarious. I like the lighthearted attitude to this game, it's a real breath of fresh air around the overly serious and oft depressing X and Z installments. Now Wily can actually have his way. I couldn't help but think of this old video when I saw the level editor in MMU.

I think they should involve the fans with MegaMan Universe the same way they are doing it for Legends 3, or at least be something like MvC 3 and get more attention. And yeah, it needs a Wii version (just make it on a DVD and have whatever necessary features as DLC. Besides, a physical copy for the Wii will more than likely sell just as well, if not more than the downloable versions on the 360 & PS3).
I played this game at the NYCC. I enjoyed it but the controls need a bit of fine tuning to be more responsive. Outside of that, I think it was greaqt for an early build.
