Anyway it's naive not to see that corporate interests are corrupting legislation and Capcom's apart of that process now, regardless of whether the illuminati exist... lol

you should read articles i put on the first page ,watching video that talk about the consequences of these bills before typing another comment.

What are the best option , prevent this or trying to fix  the dammage after the bills could possibility do.

As long as it doesn't touch you personnally , you probably don't care of the issue , thereford have no interest to prevent it

This thread goal is denouncing capcom usa position with sopa and renounce it as soon as possible. Fighting piracy is excellent , not when it goes against first amendment of the contitution .

I have read them, I realize the concerns but I don't see anybody coming up with better ways to fight piracy. The potential damage is all speculation, and put in extremes at that.

As a non-American, honestly, I couldn't care less about protecting the first amendment persay. But I do care about free speech, and I don't think free speech is really in danger; as any potential problem would come into conflict with many of the laws protecting it otherwise.

Being that this bill hasn't passed, it would be far more constructive to not only point out it's flaws but alternative ways that it can achieve it's goal, since it's already at it's most susceptible time to be amended.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to...

the first amendment is about freedom of speech :)

for the people that live in america , this site explain in detail how to deal with this americancensorship.org/

but for the people that doesn't live in america , it's more harder :/

If these bills pass , this allow coorporations to lawsuit or shut down any site that contains any copyright.

If capcom usa isn't please with srk.com , they have the tool to close it definitly and this can go for any site that containt something relate to capcom .

This mean  site like you tube , google or any social media site are dead . This will not stop piracy and this will be a major censhorship. This could even shut down this forum if you want to push it at the extreme

this isn't even good for capcom because one of their best tool to promote fighting game are coming straight from tournament stream and you tube videos ( combo videos , tutorial videos or matchs)

I think anybody who knows anything about American politics knows what the first amendment is.

But again, they have no reason to want to shut down SRK. SRK is a site that strengthens their base of consumers, and thus consistency of sales. If they were smart they'd keep up playthroughs and such on YouTube because that kind of thing also strengthens the chance of people purchasing their games. Same with streams. If their only interest is making sure they have no consistent fans they'd already be doing more radical things. (Though I know fans of certain series would find that statement ironic.)

Though maybe this is all a thinly veiled attempt for the U.S. to surpass China at something (internet censorship).

And if people want to pressure Capcom, boycott their products and any websites that run their ads, and tell Capcom and the websites that you're doing it.

Guys, a few points:

1. We are members of the ESA (along side pretty much every other major publisher in our industry).

2. We've only ever stated that the ESA represents us in legislative matters (again, like every other publisher).  We have not stated any stance on our support (or not) for SOPA. Inferring more than that is bad journalism (which seems to be rampant based upon the rereporting of a six word response to inquiry).

3. Months ago I've commented that streaming folks/video uploading have absolutely nothing to worry about. We've always been very accomodating to our supporters (and as this thread would demonstrate, even our detractors) and I don't ever see that changing.

The ESA is working with representatives to improve solutions to what is a real problem. For more details, Gamasutra had a statement from the ESA that states:

"As an industry of innovators and creators, we understand the importance of both technological innovation and content protection, and do not believe the two are mutually exclusive. Rogue websites -- those singularly devoted to profiting from their blatant illegal piracy -- restrict demand for legitimate video game products and services, thereby costing jobs."

"Our industry needs effective remedies to address this specific problem, and we support the House and Senate proposals to achieve this objective. We are mindful of concerns raised about a negative impact on innovation. We look forward to working with the House and Senate, and all interested parties, to find the right balance and define useful remedies to combat willful wrongdoers that do not impede lawful product and business model innovation."

At Capcom, we're game makers, not legislators. We do not have an internal stance on this particular issue and are not planning to. We'll get back to making games. Thanks.
