Capcom has developed few really great games with characters presented in Super Deformed style or chibi style if you prefer to call it this way. To name some one may recall Pocket Fighter, MegaMan Powered Up, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Mighty Final Fight or even Viewtiful Joe series. Aside from games there is Mini Sengoku Basara series which uses SD versions of the BASARA characters (made up as extra to the original anime series). I beleive Monster Hunter also has smth. stylized this way (though I'm not pretty sure about that).

So my question is - why not use it again from time to time? I can't name a single peson I know or heard of who didn't loved those games. Why not humor your fans and youself a bit, Capcom? ^^

Amaze me with some new announcements, Capcom ^^

mm not sure if this is a global effect i mean theres kof 13 IN cartoon digital animation i guess its like that so  no 3d at all for them and sure it worked  id say they go again like the Alpha series with that style and the Chibi styles for super puzzle fighter 3 haha i loved those games !!!!

I could see it being context sensitive.

For instance, Street Fighter probably won't be seen in SD style unless another Pocket Fighter or Puzzle Fighter is made, since that's really one of the only times such an art style is used in that series (or Darkstalkers).

However, games like Viewtiful Joe and, arguably, the MegaMan Classic series will probably stick with the SD style, as its their distinctive, original style.

Alternatively, we're not likely to see DMC SD unless Dante or others appear in Viewtiful Joe, just as we're not likely to see Viewtiful Joe or Arthur in realistic proportions.

Arthur was actually redesigned as a non-chibi character in Namco X Capcom, and it seems to have worked pretty well.

This style still has lots of fans internally as well, but as correctly pointed out, the style has to match the product.  It's not planned for any currently announced projects (so no RE6 all-chibi version DLC, fun as that might be), but not off the table as a potential direction for something new.

Ask me about my beard.  Or don't.  It's cool either way.
