As it was stated (and i'm surprised most of you don't know it yet), the PC version will have extra DLC content in the near future. This is why the game costs more according to Ben Judd
It doesn't cost more because it will have extra content; it has extra content, because it costs more (it's Capcom's attempt to sooth people angry about the price hike).
But really, you believe the promise of extra DLC? Capcom also promised Puzzle Fighter II HD on PC. And that BCR would be $10 on PC. And that BCR would be on Steam. And now you're going to believe that they're going to be giving out handouts later? Hah. I'll believe it when I see it.
The economics between PC and console ARE different and to suggest otherwise just spreads misinformation.
And by that token, most major multiplatform (console and PC) retail games are $50 on PC, and $60 on consoles.
Good luck trying to make it make sense that BCR is more expensive on PC, Sven. I don't think you're going to change anybody's mind.
And I'd like to repeat my question: Can I still put any stock in the promises of Flock and Age of Booty on Steam, or should I just get used to using Gamersgate? Be honest. You know the reason that you had the fallout with Valve about BCR. Will the same concern that caused this catastrophy apply to Flock and AoB?
Right now, to be honest, it actually costs them more to have it on XBLA then it does PC.
Completely and utterly untrue. Our best PC partners have similar terms to XBLA and PSN (not better). Our "lower margin" partners are lower because (as I've stated before) there's three mouths to feed, not two.
And given that you have to have price parity across a given platform in most of our edistribution contracts (which is understandable because you can't have people undercutting each other... what sort of partner would that make you?), guess how we price things? The economics between PC and console ARE different and to suggest otherwise just spreads misinformation.
I explained this last week.
I can't comprehend how that would be true when a console game costs 59.99 and the same game on pc can cost 49.99 and even 39.99 w/ extra content. Capcom's negotiators must be either ill equipped in their job or this is just more spin so to destract from my earlier comment that Capcom raised the price to recoup costs for a smaller market (which, again, would be fine if Capcom did actually release the game on a mainstream platform instead of doing kickbacks for IGN's Direct2Drive).
This has to be a joke or ignorance. Capcom has a poor track record when it comes to pc support. The disastrous Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 3 port is proof of that. Also Bionic Commando doesn't even offer basic pc essentials such as adjustable texture and model detail, a switch to turn off bloom, etc.
Both DMC3 and RE4 (add to them and Onimusha3) were made by SourceNext and not by Capcom. If you want to blame someone for these sh|ty ports then blame the right devs (although we should blame a little Capcom for letting SouceNext porting them). Actually those ports were the main reason that Capcom decided to port the next games themselves... and thank God they did. DMC4 and Lost Planet are great ports, run so smoothly and even have better graphics than the consoles version

Well I never claimed they did. I was just stating that their PC support has been less than stellar which, regardless of who doest the actual port, at the end of the day it still has Capcom's logo on it.

In that case there are probably just different costs when releasing a retail console game versus a retail pc game.

WTF?
Capcom have done a great job with the PC sof far. They're releasing games across all platforms (not just the PS3/360) and in some instances they're enhancing their PC games such as with Devil May Cry 4. Same thing goes for DLC with stuff like Bionic Commando and Flock. I am very happy with Capcom's support for the PC this gen and you should be too. The fact that they aren't making bespoke content for the system is irrelevant, they're not making exclusives for any systems these days
If you want to see a platform on which Capcom have f***ed up look at the DS. They have no presence on the system apart from the Megaman Battle Network shoveleware games and the Phoenix Wright GBA ports. Sven's been promising support for the past 2 years and so far all that's resulted in is some more Megaman Battle Network games and a Phoenix Wright Spinoff
They've even been surpassed by Western Devs like Activision, EA and Take 2. It's pathetic
Another person taking a pass on BCR because of no Steam offering. There are many more of us, but only a few are going to take the time to register here to voice their dismay.

I like retail store analogies.
Steam is the Walmart/EBGames/GameStop of digital titles. If a game is available for download, it's more than likely sold there. First and only stop for many people.
D2D is KMart. You know the one. Located in a rundown part of town, and half the time they're closed when you get there. Everyone you know has a horror story about their visit, and it's a wonder they're in business since people just use Steam instead.
Everybody else: "Psst. Hey buddy..." It's a guy selling speakers out of the back of a white van. He says the speakers are name brand, and you can exchange them if anything does go wrong. Promises offered, and technically everything should be alright, but is he trustworthy? Without a retail presence, he can just pack up and drive somewhere else. The potential for getting burnt is too high, so reasonable people stay away. Sorry, it's not worth the risk.
I'm sure Capcom PR is working overtime trying to craft a statement that will cast blame on Valve, yet worded well enough to avoid disrupting the preexisting relationship with them. The truth is, we don't care about blame (well, maybe the fanboys do). The market wants a product on their terms, and if Capcom refuses to play, then expect lost sales. Someone needs to be savagely beaten with a clue stick: first the decision is made to charge PC users 50% more, and now you refuse to offer BCR on the world's largest digital distribution platform? If the development team gets royalties, I recommend renegotiating the contract, based on the grounds of performance WRT Capcom's actions.
In short: not offering BCR on Steam is an unwise business decision, and given the popularity and marketshare of Steam, expect to succeed without it--I recommend questioning the qualifications of whomever made that call.

Uninformed much are we? Capcom themselves sell it. Also, comparing anyone other than D2D and Steam to illegal black market selling is fairly poor, maybe P2P is like the guy in the van, certainly not capcom.com or other retailers approved personally by the company. Maybe give another shot at that analogy.

Capcom's version is laced with intrusive DRM that won't let you install it without uninstalling it first. You're simply renting it at full price.
Here are the facts:
1) Capcom promised it for $10 then recanted for the PC release.
2) Capcom promised it on Steam then didn't have the fortitude to let us know right away.
3) Capcom WILL blame piracy for the low BCR sales just like they did for Devil May Cry 4 (which, surprise, also isn't on steam).
Whoever handles these decisions should be fired unless this is the image Capcom is comfortable with: incompetent liars.
