Mega Man 9 for Wii a gimped experience?

. You think Call of Duty: World at War or Guitar Hero World Tour or Rock Band 2 are going to have achievements on the Wii? Hell no. And that doesn't make them lesser games in any way whatsoever...it doesn't hamper the experience of the games themselves.

cant agree with you here, because we all know that guitar hero, call of duty and rock band are already gimped on the wii, sure those version will sell but most of it also cost less on wii that on ps3 or xbox360.

This its not the same scenario with Mega Man 9, Capcom by adding achievements on xbox360 will only shoot themself on the foot because wiiware version wont sell if ps3 and xbox360 version have added BONUS, Now if they make it like Wiiware version will be released first and months later release the other version with imrpovements that would be a good strategy.

In the end if Wiiware version FAILS in sales its all capcom fault.

What would be the PS3 bonus?  I missed that part.

Microsoft mandates the Achievements be in there, not Capcom, as already
said.  So Capcom isn't gimping anything, they're just meeting standards
set by those in charge of the service.

And there's a term for people who only play games for Achievements, which I'll refrain from using here.  Suffice to say, it sounds like you fit the bill if that's the only thing that makes or breaks the game for you.  But not everyone cares about that stuff.

I'm sure the Wii version will do just fine with Wii owners, partly because the controller is the most NES-like.

If you don't like the fact the 360 has achievments (which said before is mandatory by MS). Then why don't you take that list and go achieve them yourself on the Wii version? Or better yet, get the 360 version if the achievements mean that much to you. The Wii and 360 versions are essentially the same thing except for the fact you wont be gaining any points off it, but that's because Nintendo doesn't do the whole rewarded points for doing this and that stuff.

I still don't see how any version of this game is getting gimped or is superior to the other

1st. Megaman 9 was never a Wiiware exclusion, if you remember the Shadow which turned out to Capcoms own Seth Killian/s-kill(Which I had a hunch) unofficial revealed it for PSN and XBL first. Megaman 9 Wii was the first Official anouncedment it was always Multiplatform.

2nd. While the PS360 have, Nintendo hasntt anounced any achievement system. How does not having achievements make Megaman 9 Wii gimped?, intill recently PS3 didnt have a achievements system either but that didnt make there game any worse than the 360 version.

The Wii version has some sort of "Challenge Mode" option, accessible by pressing the "minus" button during gameplay:

"The only hint of newness was found
in the control explanation sheet -- the minus button will eventually go
to the "Challenge List," a feature that wasn't yet revealed.
"

This was revealed by WiiFanboy during their playthrough at E3

well why cant capcom meet nintendo standard to release bionic comando then? lets face it capcom has some favoritism for microsoft and throw the bones to nintendo and userbase. Or why not make wii version cost cheaper since have less feature then lets say 1 dollar less or ps3 and xbox live arcade cost 15 and wii cost 10.

Oh well maybe im over reacting but im just tire the way capcom stance, giving the whole speech of "multiplatform" while favor more xbox360 platform over the rest.

Achivements do not exist on Wii, nor does any other mechanism like it. You couldn't possibly be suggesting that we develop our own one-off achievement system for MM9? Retail games don't even do that much less $10 downloadable titles.

Toki Tori sent picture postcards to the Wii Message Board when you reached certain levels, and you could send the pictures to other people. A few other games send you a postcard when you beat them, like the 121 star pictures from Mario Galaxy. I think more games should use a mechanism like that as a substitute for achievements.

I don't get what your point is here? You say that if if the 360 version has achievements then a person will choose to buy that version instead of buying it on their Wii.

.....ok so?

They will still be spending the same money on the game they would've spent, they're just playing it on a different platform. Capcom is still making the same money they would've made. How is that killing anything? I think you're forgetting this title is a digital download and not an actual physical game.

Assuming a person has a Wii AND a 360, I highly doubt they'll choose the 360 version over the Wii solely base on achievements, although that's a matter of opinion.

Personally, have a PS3 myself, I'd still get it on the Wii simply because I feel the sideways wiimote is the closest thing you can come to getting the same feel of an NES controller, the way I feel all classic (or retro styled) NES games should be played.
