Of course we matter, Im not sure how much but we do, For Example SF2HDR was originally suppose to SF2 with New HD art thats it then people started askin for things like Remixed music, Revamped characters and stuff, the listened and did and now look at it way more happened the what was intended all because of us.
Example #2: Okami Wii was like 100% are fault with the help of Sven, they did even though they knew it wasnt goin to sell huge, Hell I think its safe to say all Capcoms Remakes/Ports are all influenced by are constant bitching- DR Wii,Okami, Lost Planet PS3, So yea I pretty sure we Influence Capcom threw this forum, I dont know how much but we do.

If that's the extent of the board's influence it should probably be closed down for the greater good.

I'm not biased, I hate all consoles equally. :)

Yeah, I'm glad the dudes at Capcom like Sven and S-Kill listen to what we have to say instead of dismissing or ignoring our pleas no matter how far fetched.

It's my job to make sure you're being heard, and I am good at this job.  It's easier with people like Sven at  the same meetings, helping to make sure that your voices and interests get fair review and consideration.

By talking here, you are actually a voice at Capcom.  You are not the ONLY voice at Capcom--just because vocal fans want it doesn't mean it somehow instantly happens, but there are lots of ways things said on Unity make a big difference.

It's also a matter of HOW you say what you say.  It's not always as simple as saying "I love Game X--make another one!"  Our development resources, franchise sales history, etc., all need to line up before we can gamble the company's financial well-being.

That said, IF those things do line up, hearing what people are interested in (and why) really does make a difference in the decision making process here.  Okami Wii really was a great example of a possibility that was spurred into becoming a reality by fan response.

Honestly though, if we could tell you all the different effects you internet weirdos have had, I think your jaws would be on the floor Smile

best,

Seth

Laughing Now you're going to see some news site report "Capcom labels fans internet weirdos" LOL

It's nice to hear that consumer feedback is important and fans are important and that an active dialogue is being considered. It's a great feature to have here. Although there is a lot of bitching. Deserved bitching I would say. Wink You want happy consumers and we want to be happy. Smile

I think they're excellent

They've created a fantastic perception of Capcom as a comapny and they've presented a more human side to the people that work there

It also allows them to tell us what we want to know (which is then disseminated across the internet). This is in contrast to the standard tactic of publishers just telling us what THEY think we should know

Capcom are at the forefront of community relations and they're doing a fantastic job on the PS3/360 and particularly the PC

I see how you missed Wii out of that list. Wink

Anyhow, it's a lot better than Ubisoft who actually closed down access to their events forum because people were unhappy with them.

Everyone's better than Ubisoft when it comes to the Wii or DS Laughing

I personally think Capcom are doing an OK job on the Wii. Dead Rising and Zack and Wiki are the two best retail games they've released so far this gen and they're both on the Wii. If they're publishing that awesome looking sniper studios
game and releasing a proper resident evil spinoff then they'll be perfect.

The only Platform on which Capcom have did a terrible job this gen is the DS. They are quite frankly an embarassment to the platform

One last question.

I assume the japanese capcom site has a similar Ask Capcom forum?

So is there any kind of crossover between capcom in the west and east when it comes to feedback? If consumers here on the US boards have certain views and wishes, are these passed on to the japanese wing of the company and vice versa?

Is this a formalised process or a casual thing?

Hey I AM one of those internet weirdos, so I know Tongue out  I also actually hang out with people from the boards periodically, or even hire them (hi Shawn).

As far as a Japanese equivalent of this board, frankly there really isn't one.  Japan has a different (though also cool in some ways) idea of what counts as "community."  They are also not really big on the whole dialogue thing so much as "we will now make an announcement, and you will listen.  Thank you."

We're trying to do something a little different here, and open up the Japanese side at the same time.

Ask me about my beard.  Or don't.  It's cool either way.

Hi! Laughing (why am I saying "hi" to you here? You're litterally two feet away... LOL)

And to add to Seth's and Christian's comments, the Ask Capcom section definitely serves a purpose. I try to read each and everyone of the posts here. And if I don't know the answer, I do my best to find out. I don't always reply, but know that at the very least they are read, and I talk to others about the questions asked. I shouldn't say, "I," because in reality, I think both Seth and Christian do the same.

You know the feeling that you get when you like a band/celebrity/etc., and then you get to meet them...  and they are really cool and talk to you?

That's how I feel with Capcom-Unity.  It's such a great feeling.  It makes me feel like a 14 year old girl at a Ricky Martin concert, and Ricky Martin points at her and winks while singing about a girl.

P.S.

Uhhh...  There was a tv show on the Discovery Channel about the description of that feeling... so, uhh, yeah... that's how I know.  (Phew, I dodged that one!)

I don't think Capcom had any choice but to open up these forums. I remember wayyy back when, I used to email Phillip Navidad because he was the customer service rep at the time, and I used to nag and nag him with the same questions about working for Capcom someday, and about MegaMan sequels. Poor guy. Does he still work for Capcom in some fashion?

I remember Rey Jimenez took over his job at some point, and look at how far he's come now!! I remember being super pissed that Capcom of Japan was hosting all these events for MegaMan and we got absolutely squat over in America and so I wrote Rey quite a letter lol. He pretty much put me in my place and made me realize that Japan is roughly the size of California, only with a much higher and and more condensed population, thus allowing them to host such events and have people from all over the country able to make it. While over here, that'd never be possible. I AM glad to see that that's changing and more Capcom events are being hosted by you guys (although, I'm terribly sad that I can never make them due to living in New York City).

Then I remember the OLD Capcom forums that I used to post on, man were those times rough... Capcom's come quite a long way. Here's to the future!
