Wow, our fury broke the forums. Awesome!

Question: where exactly is this financial report, and does it say that multiplatform doesn't refer to Wii as well? If so, I'm very curious as to why...I was starting to think that Capcom had gotten the message loud and clear by now.

From Capcom IR

*quote*

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce that Capcom Co.,
Ltd. received an award in the programming and R&D environment
category for its MT framework, a multiplatform game development
environment that Capcom developed internally. The award was one of the
CEDEC AWARDS, sponsored by the Computer Entertainment Suppliers
Association, that were announced at the CESA Developers Conference 2008
(CEDEC 2008) that is being held from September 9 to 11.

MT Framework, a next-generation game engine, is based on the
multi-thread, meta-tool and multi-target concepts. Capcom created this
game development tool program for the purpose of efficiently executing
its multi-platform strategy for the development of games for
next-generation hardware. MT Framework’s internal library can output
programs, graphics, sound and other components in a format that is
optimized for the structure of each type of game console. This makes it
possible to integrate the development of games for Xbox 360,
PlayStation 3 and PCs
.
MT Framework creates a highly efficient game
development environment by greatly reducing time needed for creating
versions of games for other consoles, significantly lowering
development expenses, and offering other benefits.

By developing the MT Framework, Capcom has succeeded in creating
one of the world’s most advanced game development environments. This
award is the direct result of Capcom’s outstanding skill in developing
new technologies. Capcom has already used MT Framework to create three
titles that have each recorded sales of more than one million units:
"Dead Rising", "Lost Planet" and "Devil May Cry 4." Capcom next plans
to introduce multi-platform versions of core titles like "Resident Evil
5."

Capcom will continue to focus on research involving fundamental
technologies and the establishment of a more powerful framework for
development activities. The objective is to continue growing by
supplying highly competitive and distinctive games for the newest game
consoles, which are now becoming the mainstream of the game market. *quote*

Relax.

I think the materials pretty much speak for themselves and we're continuing to support all consoles with appropriate content. It just means things that in the past would have been timed exclusives to a single platform will no longer be exclusive to a single platform.

It's just better business decisions at play. I don't think fans have anything to worry about.

That said, I know nothing I say will keep people from freaking out, screaming "the sky is falling, OMG!" So feel free to carry on assuming the worst. I suspect you'll be pleasantly surprised if you do so.

And your fury didn't break the forums... our team did while working on some upgrades. As you might notice we're making some improvements here (slowly but surely). I'm sure the quote button will be fixed shortly.

I think the sky already fell along time ago.

We buy 1 million copies of RE4, what do we get? REUC, a light gun game... We buy nearly 1 million copies of that, and now we get a Dead Rising port... I mean what the hell.

Oh, I almost forgot the other ports.

Ports ports ports ports ports.

We want games that are relevant now, not games that were relevant when the 360 was just released. A Street Fighter IV port would have been more appreciated than the Dead Rising port. A Resident Evil 5 port ESPECIALLY would have been more appreciated. Hell, Bionic Commando (A franchise that started on the damn NES ffs) would have been appreciated. But what do we get? Dead Rising port, some Neopets game, and Spyborgs (lol).

Simply speaking, your offerings on the PS3 and 360 overshadow everything you've put on the Wii. Every single thing.

Wii owners just wan't to be treated equally, and not like some red headed step child in Capcom's basement. As a Wii owner I'd say Capcom sees the Wii fanbase as irrelevant.

You guys can try to shrug it off all you want, but that's what I'm seeing. And I calls it like I sees it.

Relax. We're continuing to support all consoles with appropriate content. About the only significant thing to come from this is that unlike the initial launches of Dead Rising and Lost Planet, you're going to see things across more consoles than we were previously doing.

Capcoms idea of what it deems appropriate for the Wii is what has me worried  Undecided  BTW, whats the deal with barley any media for DR:CTYD? The game is supposed to come out this winter and we've hardly seen any media yet RE5 which comes out later has already had a bunch of videos and pics released. So whats the deal Tongue out

That settles me a little, although all I've said still applies and I stand for it.

Also, I also don't believe in the kind of "we can't win" perception of the thing as if you can't hope to satisfy us, you can, Capcom just needs to adress some stuff, and again... that financial report came out as it did... we read that stuff, there was no other reading so why not try and avoid the misunderstanding? (unless it's really how it is), a lot of people (me included) feel insulted each time DR (and other games) are tried to be sold on a "it's more casual than it was" kind of approach (say it's more linear, has a lower dificulty setting while maintaining the other, say its more acessible... never "casual"), and well... are tired of the "maybe's" when all the other platforms know what they're getting and we don't while the overall impression Capcom gives is that they haven't yet decided from the bat what to do with us, that is, unless we're negative and conclude we are getting a new casual sports line and no high budget games, that's a consequence of bad wii third party support and people getting defensive yeah... but also because of Capcom's lack of upcoming support, the aforementioned "maybe's" and well... Dead Rising looking downright bad for what it should.

I think Capcom has been better than the rest so far, but that's not because the others are good, more like the oposite which brings us to a winner by default. So while Capcom didn't jump on the crap bandwagon (some think they are doing it now though) I also don't think they've did everything they could to adress us, or invested the ammount they should (apart from MH3 I see no real high budget) or really understood the wii demographic and what kinds of games people actually want (regular capcom games are fine basically, that's what people want from capcom) and then, well... we knowing that "multiplatform" doesn't apply to us (unless it's megaman 9) so it's kind of a loosing battle for us, I mean if the focus is multiplatform and the high budget titles are that... what's left for us? Do 2 year old ports recieving bad feedback from the press and gamers count as multiplatform?

When people are being fed crap and old food, fresh plain bread will taste like heaven. But that doesnt change the fact your giving us plain bread while others are being treated to an expensive buffet.

I dont think this is a bad new. Maybe now, in this moment, Wii users will have to wait for some ports to be done, but since this announcement was done, what I understood, is that future tittles will arrive at the time to the 3 systems. I mean, looking at that anouncement, looks like Capcom will do like  Pandemic studios with Mercenaries 2: World in flames, that arrived even to Ps2.

Am I wrong? Capcom?
