It's the same as all those people buying the $199 360s this holiday. If there's a need to upgrade to enjoy good games, they will. I understand that there's no way in hell that the game could support the Wiimote + Nunchuck without removing two moves entirely, but someone else here did suggest a controller bundle. Peripherals tend to do great on Wii anyway. Who knows, maybe a casual owner who sees another Wii game with a peripheral will go, "And what's this new contraption?" and pick it up out of curiousity. :P
Edit: Just thought I'd clarify I'm talking about SFIV here, not HD Remix. And thanks, ScrubKing. :) |

Come on Sven. You aren't really going to hit us with a "How would the controls work?" thing are you? The game is squarely targeted at the core crowd. Most of us own Gamecube or Classic controllers either for Virtual Console or Smash Bros. or from owning a Gamecube. Most people may own Classic Controllers and Gamecube Controllers, but 100% of them own Wiimote + Nunchuk... People are stubborn. It's not impossible to think that some of them would not like the idea of not being able to play the game unless they bought a new controller. Anyway, there are obviously other factors involved. The controls aren't the only thing holding back SFIV on the Wii. |

Oh, agreed. But like I said, potential buyers for this game (the target audience) would probably never dream of not playing with a regular controller. Besides, Umbrella Chronicles came in a bundle and sold over a million. The chances of SFIV coming with a Classic controller (which most core Wii gamers eventually plan to buy anyway) and not selling are not high. |

TvC uses 4 buttons (like MvC2), not 6. So it's not the same.

1-"Z" 2-"c" 3-"A" 4-"B" 5-"quick nunchuck shake" (think Galaxy) 6-"quick Wiimote shake" (think Galaxy)
All independent from each other, no combinations.

Nooooooooooo! No shaking! Come on, this stuff needs to be responsive. Even if the waggle was programmed to be responsive, can you imagine doing Down, Forward + Waggle? :P I liked the Z-combination idea better. |

I don't know how throws are done in SFIV, but in 3rd strike it requires you to press weak punch and weak kick together. Things like that would be impossible with the Z combination controls. If that's not the case, I see no reason why both configurations can't be selectable in the game. I personally prefer waggle controls though. |

Combinations are used in this one, too. I've seen vids of Ono using them to demonstrate the saving system. However, that could potentially be mapped to waggle. Just none of the regular moves. |

Well it's just like when Streetfighter 2 was released on every concievable machine, you name it, it was on there...So with the Wii I'd say using Super Mario Galaxy as the benchmark in terms of the visuals the console can produce, I reckon the Wii could have a good shot at it, I mean in the end of the day the machine is as close to the original XBOX in terms of power if not slightly more so, when it comes to the controls, well the best results would be on the game-cube pad or classic controller, similar to the situation for the people who are gettin the 360 version of Super Street Fighter 2 hd remix for the 360, they know they'd HAVE TO go for alternative controls because it's d-pad is useless...
It wouldn't be a disaster to try and make a version for the Wii as long as it was built from the ground up taking into consideration what it could or could not do and could possibly be one of the FEW games that allow the console to ''flex it's muscles'' in the best possible way under the circumstances.... |
