Speaking of Capcom games for the PSP

Sven or any other Capcom employee on the boards here, I just wanted to know if you fine people are aware that the Resident Evil for PSP petition is nearing the 40,000 signature mark. I know a Capcom employee had previously mentioned that 10,000 signatures would certainly get attention. So does that mean that 40,000 gets a lot of attention and perhaps some action to go with it?

The problem with petitions are that most people on there are duplicates. Petitions aren't the way to go. You gotta get more attention by getting a mass mail campaign (like sending companys RE-related items).

petitions do not work, nor should they.

IMO, a company should not make a game because they feel forced by "fans" - they should make a game because they feel they want to and are dedicated to it. something that they always wanted to develop.

the PSP isn't really a viable platform either now... the DS outsells it by a lot.

Just like the XBOX360 and PS3 aren't viable platforms because the Wii is outselling the both of them by a disgusting margin? Har har har.

wait, what?

I agree with compagny doing game because they want to make them like the fans.

A exemple,i want more capcom game for the psp but i dont want to force them to do them.I only suggest them so when they have time, they can consider them.

The same thing for everyone. If capcom would do everything fan want and never think, just make them,im sure everyone from capcom would have left the compagny because they can`t do anything except doing what the fan want.it like be the servant of gamers.

Franchise like bionic commando and street fighter have a new game because it not because the fan want them,it because capcom want them too and those are viable in today market. That why we have a new bionic commando and street fighter 4.

While we appreciate the passion that's shown in these efforts, in general, online petitions aren't things we respond to. We respond to posts here, on our forums, blogs that people create on Unity and other direct communications.

Secondarily, we do listen but we also have to balance the fans' wants with the resources we have to bring to bear.

Lastly, to counter a few people's comments here, the PSP is an extremely viable platform in all three territories. As I've stated before, we have a number of new, interesting projects coming to the platform in 2009.

Sven, I have one question - have you considered making multiplayer Devil May Cry or Resident Evil for PSP? Your company has created the PSP multiplayer craze in Japan; however other companies like SEGA and KOEI are starting to cash in, but I think with your experience AND with the frachises that you have, you could really make a 'killing' on PSP, and not only with Monster Hunter, but with multiplayer orientated versions of DMC or RE as well.

I certainly Agree with that idea, an online Multiplayer component added to games either Franchises would only make them better...

I personally loved the Resident Evil: Outbreak games. I thought they were incredibly fun to play.

I dont have any ideas on how to make DMC multiplayer...but I am sure the whizzes at Capcom can soup up something fun. I always enjoyed the single player badassedness of DMC anyway. Made me think of the good old Contra, Megaman, Gunsmoke days when games were made to kick your ass.

If petitions meant anything, we'd have Resident Evil 5 on Wii. 51 thousand and counting.

Sven, if the PSP is a viable platform, then what about the Wii? Considering that the Wii has sold more than the PSP, and the majority of people that I know that have a psp only use it for piracy (emulators). They have a DS to play games on (I don't think Capcom has ever heard of a system called a DS before considering the lack of support)

"We have a broad Wii portfolio. I don't see that changing in the future. " - Sven

"How many Wii titles have online co-op, even from Nintendo?" - Sven... so you want Capcom to be as mediocre as the rest of Wii developers? Figures.

There are a few decent Capcom DS games out there...but these days it seems they are being a little more careful and not tossing out titles all nimbly bimbly...which I guess is ok for quality control. The Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii is pretty sweet...and there is a poop ton of Megaman and Pheonix Wright titles for DS. So if you love either of those...your set!
