I'm assuming it's the same deal as with every other PS2 controller, since PS3 uses new connectors for its controllers you need an adapter. With a proper adapter it should work fine.

but what about those Street Fighter XBox controllers. does anybody know if they will work with a Street Fighter game on the 360?

well if you want tho you DO get some sort of universal controlers i seen one that is for PC and PS2 tho..

maybe if you hunt down carefully you could find them but it wont be worth it.

you can buy a USB adapter on ebay you can use any PS2 pad on the PS3

I use this with my PS2 SF controller:

No lag and it doubles as a memory card adapter. It works on PS1/2/3 games because it has a PS button (you can also hold Select and press dpad up).

Also, stay away from the Xbox SF controller because the dpad is bad compared to the PS2 version. This is why the Xbox version isn't licensed by Microsoft and the PS2 version is licensed by Sony.
