Go play Metroid on the wii so you can feel the desire to choke Bill Gates for not giving you a "xboxmote" so you can play halo and all its copies (every 360 game but RPGs) the way the lord intended them to be played. Furthermore, any control scheme that is made more intuitive because one of the buttons became a waggle is a better game (by that I mean good wii games, c*** counts for nothing, as every former ps2 owner knows). I hate those four buttons that feel exactly the same to your thumb.
Oh. but they WILL copy it. that's like Microsoft's middle name.
Didnt know that one. Is it for Quantum Solace? So, if the Wii gets a COD4 engine version, a unreal engine 3 version and the HVS's engine, I guess we'll be alright, regardless of Capcom's policy towards the white console. Though I already am OK with wii's future titles (capcom could just hand out more of those, but whatever...) and I dont care about DR, so I shouldnt be in this thread anyway... Btw, anyone knows if capcom has a wii-specific engine of some sort?
For CoD5; presumably for Quantum Solace too since it's Treyarch's too.
UE3, or any other kind of optimized UE engine wii will never happen, Mark Rein is and will be forever in the "I-can't-hear-you-over-the-sound-of-how-awesome-I-am" phase that he should have gotten out of when he was in his teens, and so they think they're better dissing it for a living than developing for it. I mean, even our build of UE2.5 is a joke, can't touch the optimization UE2.x(box) had... And they don't care. That's unprofessional, if I ever saw it; but that's also the definition of EPIC for us, some pricks that like to diss us so they feel better for not supporting it. (as if they're trying to convince themselves)
Possibly a core reason of why we don't have more FPS... but it's not like wii can't live without them. Proof is Wii is leading no thanks to them... and if anything they're the ones who seem pissed about such fact.
You claim we're ignorant, while being so yourself.
If we were to compare it to LOD methods available for weaker hardware, DR on Wii would end up looking like Dynasty Warriors on PS2, with a draw distance of about 10 feet and massive fog. It's be slightly better than that, but not by much.
That's not the kind of DR I'd want to play
Yep... You really no this for a fact. To target just you, you're being "naive!"
You're comparing the Wii to a PS2. That's a really poor example. The PS2 couldn't handle as much as a Cube and you want us to assume that your analogy of a PS2 is a good example of why the Wii can't handle DR and that this is how it will be.
Do you not see a problem with this? It's not like your comparing a console that's even remotely as good as a Wii. It's like me citing that because my old truck wasn't good at handling steep hills, a much newer truck should also be the same, but slightly better.
Last I checked, when I buy a new GPU or CPU for my comps, even if it costs less, it has always been faster than what I'm replacing it with. So why on earth would Nintnedo completely ignore technical advancements in GPUs, CPUs, memory, etc. and release a console that's slower than the Cube, as in slightly better than a PS2? They didn't! They released a console that's superior to the Cube all around, while using less power.
DR doesn't run at 1080p. We're discussing DR, not COD or any other game.
Just because you can't respond with anything of substance, you reply with this FLUFF. Thanks.
Besides taking my 1080p comment OUT OF CONTEXT -- go back and read the whole sentence this time -- you should step back and take a look at the bigger picture. If COD4, a "modern" 3D engine is being developed for the Wii and games like COD5 Wii are not being gimped when compared to the other more powerful consoles, you have to ask yourself, is the Wii really as weak as the other kids at recess state it is? Is the Wii good enough to handle a variation of DR at 480p?
YES IT IS!
COD4 on the Wii is very relevant, it clearly shows the Wii can handle a game that's also being produce for the other consoles. If the Wii's version of COD5 were as sorry as most attempts on the Wii and they had to cut out all extras just to make it work, than you would have a better case and a good example to say why DR would not work on the Wii.
As was said previously, it was a joke/exaggeration/sarcasm.
Fair enough.
And partially true, the amount of zombies on screen on wii would be extremely crippled compared to 360, which defeats the point of the game. And DR still slowed down on 360 when the swat team was shooting
Wii is not capable of the kind of gameplay Dead Rising represents
I can see why you would think the above, since you think of the Wii as only slightly better than a PS2, which is not true. Do you view DR on the Wii as a threat, as in it would demean the 360's capabilities/power? Would it ruin "your" enjoyment of the game?
Being a long-time PC gamer, LONG-TIME, I know that what you state is simply not true, when all 3D games for well over decade have been scalable to accommodate a wide variation of configurations, from the weakest at the time, to the strongest. A variation of DR can be ported to the Wii and since I'm a control buff, I think it would be more fun if Capcom really put some time into it, than when played with two thumb-sticks. Who cares if the game is only 480p with less polygons on the screen, or even a few less zombies. It will still look better than any game from last generation and it will certainly be capable of handling more load than previous consoles.
Here's a good example of a game that was ported to a vastly inferior platform, but ended up being the best version; Mario Kart DS. It's till the best IMO. Did I have doubts about it working on a DS after playing MK Cube? Yes, but all that was put to rest after I played it. It all comes down to the developer, NOT the system's capabilities.
If DR can't be done on the Wii, it's not do to the Wii's limitations, it's squarely on the developer's inability to do so. I saw games like Doom 3 and Half Life 2 ported to a XBox, a really weak system when compared to my PCs at the time, and you really think they can't put DR on a modern console, that's just being wishful. I'm going to assume hat you wouldn't want it to happen, because then you would have to second guess the Wii's standing when compared to the other consoles, or even worse, knock the other guys down a few notches.
It's a port of a good game on a console that is severely lacking in them. I think it's cause for some degree of excitement (assuming that it's a good port), don't you?
