    I'm going to E3!

    Monday, June 1, 2009, 04:09 AM [General]

It's that time again gamers! E3 means a lot of different things to many gamers. To those closest to the front lines (like me) it's a chance to play first hand what we will have to sell later in the year. For journalists to report back to their sites/mags what they saw, liked, disliked and experienced. For the single to try and pick up on that  booth girl dressed like an elf (j/k guys I tried once myself). And yes time for those who complain the whole time to show up aaaaand you guessed it complain. Where do I fall in this crazy equation? Well I'm on the front line. I take this responsibility very seriously, and do my best to provide my guests with my opinion but make sure they make up their own minds. It scares me when I hear someone qoute word for word their favorite reviewer without forming an opinion of their own to begin with. I know that people tend to listen to reviewers and critics alike this is fine. What is not fine are those who are ready to believe what is fed to them without taking a moment to experience the very thing they are condemning. So it's time to dust off my notebook, grab my favorite pen and shoulder bag. E3 is here and I'm ready to get hype! I'll be spending a majority of my first day at the Capcom booth (naturally) I hope to see some of you there.

    Fanboys be damned!

    I'm not dead

    Saturday, May 9, 2009, 08:03 PM [General]

It's been a LONG time since I've said anything on this blog and it's mostly been because life has become pretty serious. So serious in fact that I have had to give up many things in order to stand on my own two feet. What I've given up in material possesion is nothing compared to having a place to live, so trust me when I say I'll get by. I grew comfortable in the way I used to live, and maybe that's why life is kicknig me around right now. There was a time that if things got this bad I would just crumble to pieces and just let what was coming tank over and destroy me. Not this time. I got too much fight in me to let it end like that. So while I cannot detail what exactly is going on just understand that I have a big choice to make, and a long fight ahead of me because of the decision I make. Details to follow when I can post them, and to those of you wondering if I'll jump back on Xbox Live that will happen hopefully soon. I owe some of you matches and I'd love to catch up.

    Until I post again!

    Round One!

    Monday, February 9, 2009, 03:29 AM [General]

With Street Fighter IV rapidly approaching we are beginning what we hope to be a month long celebration of all things Street Fighter. Me and my staff are proud to announce the first of many tournaments will be held on Friday February 13th, 2009.

The game: Street Fighter III Third Strike (PS2- played on PS3)

Who: Anyone is free to join, no entry fee required, space is limited and will be capped at 40 people.

Time: Registration 5 to 5:30. Tournament begins promptly at 6pm, if you are late you will not be allowed to fight. NO EXCEPTIONS! Sign ups at store level beginning Monday Feb. 9th. Please be reminded that while we are holding a tournament you are still in a operating place of business, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun!

Rules: Single elimination, two rounds. You may bring your own stick/controller, but as a reminder: YOU are responsible for your equipment at all times! You may set your buttons before the match but will not be allowed to restart once a match is in progress. Resetting = elimination. Unsporting behavior will not be tolerated, and can result in disqualification, and removal from the store. Since this may draw a large crowd we ask that you remain close to the tournament If your name is called and you miss your fight, you can and will be eliminated. In the event of a larger crowd a break will be taken between brackets.

Location: Game Crazy 2497 Foothill Blvd Ste G La Verne, CA 91750. Still lost? Use the store locator on the Game Crazy site.

Our goal: This is an event for the fans, and it is our hope that we can have a great time fighting! Even if you miss this chance to fight there are things to look forward to on the horizon...

That is all for now, more to follow as we keep this hype train chugging. Second tournament to be announced that night. Thank you for your time!

"..the fight is almost ready to begin!"

    Sunday, February 1, 2009, 04:58 AM [General]

Seems I make it a habit to post these sort of things late at night! Anyhow if you are reading this take a peek at my public photos. I have uploaded four pictures from my store (more to follow) showing off some of our marketing for SF IV. Keep you eyes on this space for I will be posting details about our upcoming tournaments. Keep fighting, we're almost there!

    What it means to fight.

    Monday, September 22, 2008, 03:48 AM [General]

It's late and for some reason I feel compelled to write I have no idea why but if you'll read along I'll do my best to make this interesting.

Growing up I was always faced with a challenge, and while never specific it just seemed that I would always be struggling with anything. School, work, friends, etc etc I always had trouble getting ahead. Though the road has been hard I always had gaming to fall back on when the world was too much to deal with. However playing games alone only gets you so far, there are times we need a challenge and a reason to fight.  Sadly some of the company I kept did'nt share my same determination to keep fighting, and so for a long time I kept fighting on my own. It's hard to keep a healthy fighting game habit when those around you are only in it for the excitement of a new title, and as quickly as it started it's over. What's even worse is when the challenge appears to be too great and no one is willing to try.

I made a promise to myself at the beginning of 2008 to not make that mistake anymore. Easy to say...harder to do. I missed out on a handful of Guilty Gear tournaments, and my work schedule has kept me from putting in real time with Soul Calibur. And sadly my Street Fighter game is weak and not where it should be. You'd think managing a game store I'd have every oppurtunity to play everytime I work...this is so far from the truth it's not even funny. With the release of Street Fighter IV I'm faced with a challenge. My heart wants to keep fighting, and yet my head tells me to play it safe and keep work serious. I am blessed though to be working in a game store with the console release of SF IV around the corner. I will get a chance to share my passion with my customers, and co-workers.

Will i make it to more tournaments? I'm not sure. But I will say this; If the oppurtunity presents itself I will take that chance. If you are reading this and asking "OK? So what does it mean to fight?" Well it's just as he said "The answer lies in the heart of battle." I'm slowly starting to understand how that can apply to life, and if something is pushing you forward so much that it's all you think about, then maybe it's something you should be doing. My dad always told me to try anything. This way I don't have to look back and ask "What if?" I think before I'm too old to care I should start doing just that. Thank you for letting me share a part of myself with you. See you at the arcade.
