I blogged about the SFIV figures earlier today, and now, Bionic Commando! You can get this figure of Nathan RAD Spencer right now at your online or comic book store of choice. Go pick one up to hold you off until BC launches.
Just to add a little trivia in today, the first three fans who leave a comment with what the RAD in "Nathan RAD Spencer" means, I'll send you one of the proto-types for the GameStop Pre-Order patches. So, leave a comment about what it means, then send me a private message. Should be pretty easy, since the first commenter that posts means you just have to copy his answer. =) So be fast!!!
I have more Dark Void juice for you! GameSpot has some great new info, pics, and a 12 minute video up featuring the Producer, Morgan Gray. Watch them run through some of the sweet new things you can do in the game from the run 'n gun, to flying with the jet pack. Lots of weapons, info on the story, enemies, awesome environments... Well, I'll stop there. I won't spoil all of it for ya. So head on over to GameSpot for the whole scoop!
I've been going through some of the recent blogs and forums here on Unity, and figured it's past due time for me to highlight all the cool stuff you guys do here. I picked a few that everyone should go check out!
James- See that Mega Man painting up top. Yea, that's hand painted, on real canvas. This was his fan art gift to Capcom, and it rocks man! (get it, rock-man... nvm) He's got this up in the creative section of the forums, so go tell him what you think!
Lwing- Ah yes, the old creepy Mega Man head Seth has above his desk. Where did that come from anyways? Lwing has a whole set of blogs digging into all things Mega Man and Capcom, and guess what he found... The place where the creepy Mega Man head came up! That's Kramer inside the costume too! It's older than I thought, but still just as creepy. Did I mention it's creepy? Anyways, check out Lwing's blogs for your Mega Man needs!
Chloebs- There's Capcom swag in all corners of the earth, especially Japan. But that JapaneseCapcom stuff is so hard to come by! Monster Hunter swag is even harder to get here in the west. But with a little luck and perseverance, you can get some sweet Capcom toys like Chloebs. She got herself this Monster Hunter Felyn hoodie, which is totally roxzors. I've never even seen this thing until now! Apparently it was from TGS '08, and came with a cute little stuffed Felyn too. Check out all the pics in her blog.
PS - That may or may not actually be Kramer in the Mega Man costume.
NECA is doing some awesome work for us lately, especially with SFIV. I'm sure you've seen Crimson Viper and Ryu already as part of the Collectors Editions. But new to the list is Ken! I have a few new pics to show of these detailed figures, and in some fancy poses too. You'll be able to get these at Toys R Us, Amazon, FYE, Hot Topic, Spencer's, and Comic Book & Specialty Shops everywhere, and will be available early next month. I wonder if we'll see more characters from the SFIV line-up...?
Part of coming to Capcom Unity is getting exclusive content and info on our upcoming games. These Dark Void screen shots were taken just for you! They're Unity exclusive, and show off a new stage. I've had the chance to play this stage, and it's a blast to just fly around in. See those little islands in the very back of the top screen? You can fly there. The Dark Void world is there for you to use to your advantage. You can approach the enemies in anyway you please. Fly, hover, run, or even hi-jack an enemy UFO to blow baddies to bits. Enjoy the new shots, and if you're lucky, you're at CES playing it!
The Cover of the Last EGM. Pretty, eh?
.....speaking of James Mielke, he just released the last cover of EGM.
Having worked there, it really seems fitting -- I can't recall how many Street Fighter covers EGM did in the arcade / Genesis / SNES days, but it was a ton. As a Capcom employee, it's an honor
There's more where that came from, just check out Mielke's blog.
As most of you probably heard, EGM has been shuttered as a side-consequence of 1up.cop joining UGO.com. It's hard even now to write it, and actually believe it.
EGM.. has been... shuttered?
To be honest, I was surprised at how much of a loss it felt like when I got the news. EGM was the magazine I looked forward to getting in the mail when I was young. It always had the coolest first looks at Japanese games, which always came out months and years before their American counterparts (Capcom included.) EGM probably also ran about 58 Street Fighter covers..
It became a goal, a dream, of mine to work for that magazine one day. Right when the internet and web started to become a usable place to get information, I wrote tons of web articles, pestered lots of people on #irc and at CES, and finally I got my break. I began working for then Sendai Media in 1996.
EGM was completely different back then, but many things remained the same. It was a fantastic experience, and an honor to work for a magazine I grew up loving as a kid. I finally left Ziff Davis and my Senior Editor spot in 2002 to try my hand at genuine game development. (Shane Bettenhausen took my open spot, and he did an awesome job with it!) 7 years later, just shy of EGM's 20th anniversary, the magazine is gone, without so much dignity of an official good bye issue.
James Mielke, the last EGM Editor-in-Chief is someone I've known for a very long time. He'll go on to bigger and better things, as will the rest of the staff, I'm sure. But what won't change is that an instutition, an era, has uncerimoniously ended.
You've been getting info trickling in about the Mad Catz SFIV sticks for quite some time now. But finally, here's the full scoop! Below is the press release for your reading pleasure. It's got the details on all the goodies Mad Catz is proudly presenting for the SF fans. With the fans in mind, Seth (s-kill) sent me a message from his phone just a bit ago. Apparently one of Americas greatest Street Fighter Legends, Alex Valle, was playing on the tournament edition stick. He said it's the best stick ever on the market!
Full Press Release after the jump.
