Mega Man Zero turns 10, making today perfect for a giveaway

Apr 26, 2012 // Minish Capcom

Ten years ago today (well, in Japan at least) Zero was violently yanked back into conciousness after 100 years of  cybernetic slumber and thrust into another gauntlet of nonstop battle. Bad news for Zero, but great news for us, as it led to a new Mega Man spin-off series that introduced new gameplay elements, cool new plot points and, perhaps most notably, a soul-crushingly difficult take on the established Mega Man style.

To celebrate the 10 year milestone, I’ve rustled up two copies of the Mega Man Zero Collection, which, naturally, collected Zero 1~4 and packed them onto one DS cart. This all-in-one offering is the perfect introduction to the series, as well as the ideal way to play the whole Zero saga on the go.

To enter for a chance to win one (NA only!), simply leave a comment in this article that describes your first exposure to the Zero series (or forgiving that, your first memories of Zero as a character). I’ll pick two folks from the list and voila, you’re a proud new owner of the Zero Collection! And even if you don’t win… how about some gorgeous wallpaper?

I can kick things off, if it helps get the nostalgia juices flowing. So, I grew up with classic Mega Man, and adored that series since the moment it arrived in 1987. Mega Man X continued the streak and kept my interest level high for years, but after Mega Man 8 and numerous X titles, I started to fall off the wagon. Legends and Battle Network arrived soon after, and while both were great spin offs that made their mark, I patiently waited for the next blazing 2D game – and Mega Man Zero was it. Took me a while to get on board, but once the GBA SP launched in early 2003, I also picked up MMZ and rekindled my lifelong affair with this franchise. Wasn’t prepared for the challenge level though, haha… took a few days to get my skills up to par to scrape through the game.

Zero-Zero and X-Zero, locked in an epic stare-down

So – how’s about you? Comment between now and end of day Friday 4/27 and I’ll choose two as winners. This won’t be the only Zero-related contest either… I have some other goodies to share but will let this contest run its course before dropped a second on ya.

UPDATE – When I saw how great the reaction was, I asked around for more copies of the game. Mikeeb dig some digging of his own and found two more, so we now have four total to give away! Entry period ends Friday 4/27 at 5pm PT, with winners announced Monday 4/30
