Well, I finally received my Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition arcade machine. It needs some work but thats fine. Ive wanted one since I played it in the early nineties. I also want to get the switcher so I could install multiple jamma boards. Im looking to get the Konami Xmen game as well as the Konami Ninja Turtles. The switcher can hold up to 8 jamma boards. I wonder if I could still use the cps2/3 adapter with the switcher. I need to have my MvC2 and/or Xmen vs Street Fighter lol. I will post pics later. The marquee is cracked and there is some minor wear on the cabinet but overall, Im in love.
Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition Arcade Machine......Finally
motion controller war.....maybe
well ive been thinking this same thing since last tuesday. after i saw ms' and sony's motion controllers, first thing that i thought was "wow, now that they have their version of the wiimote, nintendo has nothing but names like mario and zelda". then i started thinking of how different the controllers still are. i mean microsoft's isnt even a controller really. i like the idea but it isnt practical for games with swords, guns and the sort. maybe its just a preference of mine but if im shooting, slashing or whatever, i like actually feeling something in my hands. the controllerless idea is cool but for certain things.....and i think milo is strange and the start of the machines taking over (yes that was a bad joke and reference to skynet and terminator). the sony wand i thought was amazing, even if it makes me sound like a fanboy. the accuracy was insane. i just hope sony implements it better. third party companies could theoretically port or release motion games for all of the systems now. its going to make the "console war" a little more interesting seeing as how they took what made the wii unique, and made it their own. i know ea has already started to develop "Active" for the xbox and ps3. i will say that i doubt it would happen but i would hate to see nintendo go the route of sega. it sucks seeing sega only making games.
Another term down, any advice
So I finished another school term. I'm waiting on one more grade to come in but so far I have had straight A's each term. Its kind of hard keeping up the 4.0 but well worth it. To whomever may be reading this I am in school for game art and design. Unfortunately like all schools Westwood makes you take a bunch of classes that don't have anything to do with said program. You know, basics. Next term I have life drawing which is great. I cant wait to start with Maya though. I have always wanted to make games but I'm not too interested in the programing aspect as of right now. I prefer the art and modeling. Later after I graduate, I want to go back and study game programming. If anyone has some insight or advice please leave a comment. It would be much appreciated. I am still unclear with many things in the video game business.
in regards to manzoor's post please read
this is a reply/post to me from manzoor about re5 dlc
"are u retarded? sorry but i wanna speak someone inside in CAPCOM, not with some idiot who purchase two copies of same game...haha r u stupid or something???? i know u are the #1 NOOB fan of CAPCOM who are trying to protect them....but selling content thts already on the disc shows how bad CAPCOM need $$$..."
this was a quote from a forum post by manzoor. forum rules is anyone can respond genius. i bought two of the collectors editions because i collect resident evil merch......hence the term COLLECTORS EDITION. as for the name calling it doesnt take much to see who is the "retard" and obviously "bright" one of the bunch lol. i would have had a response but the thread was locked when i got off of work......gee maybe thats why i can "protect capcom with my money" by working and giving them my money. oh yeah maybe if u worked maybe you would quit bitching about 5 bucks for dlc. NOOB? your the new one here junior lol. speaking of how old are you? im guessing between 13 and 16. go ask mom for 5 bucks kid lol.
metal gear solid 4 vs resident evil 5 (ps3 exclusive vs mulit platform)
I bought two collectors editions of Resident Evil 5 for the PS3. Normally I dont do that. The only games that I have done that for are Street Fighter 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4. These three have always been my "bread and butter" of gaming. Im kind of disappointed with RE5 however. I knew that there were some framerate issues with the PS3 version, but they had four years to develop the game. Im tired of games being developed for the Xbox because its "easier", while the PS3 version lacks. I bought two copies of the collectors edition and two of the nice hardcover collectors strategy guides. I consider the collectors guides to be art books. Anyways the gameplay of RE5 seems like RE4 all over again. That's not a bad thing as I like consistant gameplay. The scenarios and boss fights are way too similar to the other RE games. I dont see much originality in the combat scenarios. The graphics are not what I was expecting either. It's terrible when you see exclusive games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2 looking beautiful, yet multiplatform games like Resident Evil 5 looking horrible in comparison. Most multiplatform games are developed with the Xbox as the lead console. The game then never looks as nice on the PS3 or may have some flaws only on the PS3. The games that are developed with the PS3 as the lead console look beautiful on both consoles like Ghostbusters. I guess I cant really use that as an example. The game hasn't been released yet. If you start from the top and work your way down you wont miss anything. Im sure there are some exceptions but the majority of the time its true. I can only think of one or two games such as Dead Space or Army of Two that look and work great on both. Oh yeah speaking of "Xbots" and their precious Xbox talk, I was at a comic con wearing a Metal Gear shirt. One of the dealers told me that he wanted to play MGS4 but he'll wait until it gets ported to the Xbox. I sat there and laughed. The guy started to go on and on about the Xbox as if he were trying to sell me one. Very odd and almost creepy. It was almost like an infection or outbreak of the "Xbot" virus. The same goes for Gamestop. I can not go into a Gamestop without someone all but telling me I'm stupid for choosing the PS3 over the Xbox. Back on topic, I guess I should not complain too much. Resident Evil 5 could have been an exclusive to Xbox. I'm sure someone will read this, and blast me for my opinion and views. Everyone is entitled to theirs. Maybe I was just expecting the quaility in RE5 to atleast be equal to MGS4.
