    Cosplay ahoy!

    Thursday, October 9, 2008, 12:56 AM [General]

I'm not just all about the Mega Man.  I also <3 Viewtiful Joe very much.  I even did a cosplay for Viewtiful Joe at Anime Weekend Atlanta a few years ago.  Here I am goofing off at various places outside of the Con.  Tell me what you think!

Let me say this to start!

I think I'm a pretty big fan of Mega Man.  I have dedicated many years of my life to his cause.

I have spent the better part of my life just amassing a bevy of Mega Man games to play and share my love of Mega Man as a franchise.  Ever since I was young, Mega Man has always been a passion for me, being that if I'm trekking the long hallways of Dr. Wily's castle, or goofing around on Knight Man's stage in Mega Man 6, it has always been a major part of my life.  I can't seem to remember a time without Mega Man.  While I was bed-ridden while eight years old because of an accident I endured, Mega Man was there by my side to help me through those times.

I spent a lot of my youth thinking of all sorts of new kinds of Robot Masters and Mavericks, drawing them up, thinking of new level designs.  It was a huge part of my youth, as I have been a Mega Man fan for the last eighteen years.  I remember when a friend brought over his NES one day with Mega Man, to show me how much fun it was.  I must have spent the better part of that day just having fun on Cut Man and Guts Man's stages.  After months of begging my parents, They finally got me a NES along with a copy of Mega Man.  Did I ever play that game.  I didn't stop until I had it defeated.  Then, after weeks and weeks of saving up money from doing chores around the house, I finally was able to go out and get Mega Man 2.  I was enamoured by this game.  It was pure bliss.  Every day that I came home from school, I'd walk in the door and run straight to the NES and boot up Mega Man 2.  That title screen music was my childhood.  I progressively worked my way through all of the NES Mega Man games, and finally got to the X series.  When I read the walls of text about the new type of robot X, I was giddy with childish excitement.  I could not wait to play this new series of Mega Man.  After weeks of playing, and getting stuck on Sigma's second form, I finally beat it, and watched as X stood on the cliff side, watching Sigma's fortress go down.  Then his message after the end credits.  It sent me into a fit.  I wanted to play the next game there and now.  I had to wait though, until the next X game came out.

Many Mega Man games later across platforms, I finally came to the Legends series.  I must have played those games dozens upon dozens of times.  They brought a whole new feeling to the world of Mega Man.  The story was superb, and the characters were amazing, especially Tron Bonne.  I am so glad that she got her own game.  It was simply amazing.

With the original series, I was captivated, with the X series, I was in euphoric contentment, and with Legends, I was let's just say, as happy as one can be.   I will always play the Mega Man games, no matter what road they embark, and what twists that the series takes.  I will always Love Mega Man no matter what.

To further prove my love for the series, I want you, Capcom, to look upon my personal collection of games and tell me that one can love the series no more than I can.  (Well, maybe someone out there does, but if they do exist I do not know them!)

Let's take a stroll down memory lane, shall we?

First off here, we have the Original series, sans MM5 for the Gameboy, because I've had a hard time locating it.

Next, we have the X series, my personal favorite, You see an Import MMX3, because yet again, the American version eludes me.

Next we have the GBC/GBA games, which are pretty good games, but no match for the console Mega Man games.

Oh, good old Mega Man Legends.  I have a still sealed copy of MM64.

Now we have the DS Mega Man games.  Star Force and ZX.  I got a little anxious to try out Star Force, so I imported two of the games, and finished them before the American versions came out, and yet, I still bought them when they did come out in America.  If that isn't love, I don't know what is.

The PSP remakes for MMX and MM1.  Oh I loved playing these so.  I don't even own a PSP by the way.  I had to borrow a friends to play my own bought copies of these games.  Good times.

The Two collections for MMX and MM plus MMX Command Mission and Mega Man Network Transmission.  It's a shame the X collection only got released in America.  I would have imported a copy as well.

These are almost all PC versions of Mega Man games.  Yes.  That is correct.  You see Mega Man and Mega Man 3 for the PC, both made by Hi-Tech Expressions.  I'll bet a lot of people have never even seen these versions before.  Both with the 3.5in floppy and MM3 with the 5.25in floppy.  Now, if only Mega Man X2 had made its way to the PC...

These are all import versions of Mega Man games, One of which never graced American shores. That one would be Rockboard.  You also see MMX3 for the Sega Saturn, Mega Man and Bass as well as Mega Man 7.  The one front and center is..Mega Man for the Game Gear!  That bugger was hard to come by.  Plus it isn't an import, but I had to throw it in on one of these pictures :p

While I lack the American SNES version of MMX3, I managed to get ahold of three other versions of the game, the Japanese version, Japanese Sega Saturn Version, and the American PC version.  Whew.  I really need to find the American version.

These are my doubles.  That's right.  I own four copies of Mega Man 8.  I just couldn't help myself.

This baby I love so much.  I managed to get a hold of the only one my local Gamestop ever had.  The official Mega Man X gamecube controller.  I cherish this thing.

My recently aquired Mega Man Zero Artbook, which I read from cover to cover within hours of getting it.  Very informative!

This is a Poster that was hung up at Game Stop to advertise for the PSP games and the X collection when they first came out.  I bugged the manager there until he let me have it after they were taking it down.  Now it hangs on the wall in my room! :D

And of course, since there is no hard copy of Mega Man 9 that I can own outside of the Press Kit version, here's a screenshot of my TV with Mega Man 9 on it.  I had this game cleared the same day it came out.  I'm pretty diehard about Mega Man, I must say.

Honestly, I don't know where I'd be without Mega Man.  These games have helped me through a lot of hard times, and I'm mreally glad they were around when I needed them most.  I can not thank Capcom enough for creating such a fantastic series.  Kudos, good sirs!

There you have it!  Physical proof that I am an ultimate Mega Man fan.  My collection grows on a steady basis, so by the time that you have gotten this far, I might have collected yet another Mega Man game.

    Happy Playing everyone!
