Week of July 20: Back from L.A. I am glad to be away from that traffic. Vow, to not complain about Bay Area traffic for at least 2 weeks. ShadyGuy is waiting and wanting to do some Rajang runs. We manage 1 before the sleep deprivation overwhelms. Offline, since Mono is finished, I opt to get the Kirin title next. I have some Genprey armor fabricated and upgrade to the Hvy. armor sphere stage. So, grabbing my Dragonslayer sword, I head off to see the wizard, er town chief. What? No, Kirin. All dressed up and nowhere to go. Re-equip with and it is off to the snowy mountains to play with Khezu.
1,2,3,,,,,9 quest later, Kirin shows up. Now I remember why I really do not like it. I do not what to admit to how many herbs and potions I used (7 & 7) plus the meds and 3 megas. The most annoying part is when it runs past you, even though you are not next to it, it still hits. Toward the end of the battle, I refine my attack and smack him as it nears me. Perhaps next time I will use a hammer.
I am back to fighting the G cephadrome is search of coral fins to complete the sandman spke.
Finally finish the twenty Monoblos needed for the title. Up next would be Rajang, but I skipped to Kirin - oh joy. Since I am still working on improving to Sandman Snake before tackling the dual Raj, I will work on the Kirin title. No, I won't. Sheesh, I just made armor for electric defense - and no Kirin quest to be found. Off I go to beat-up on poor Khezu until the quest shows up.
Meanwhile, I am off to Los Angeles for the USBC Open bowling tournament. I am roommates with Tommy (see it pays to convert friends and family to Monster Hunter) and we play with Kushala because Tommy needs more parts to make the armor. After Saturday's squad is finished, we watch people bowling for $100 a game, then it is off to eat at Black Angus. Not the best choice...especially after enjoying a fantastic Reuben sandwich for lunch at Harris Ranch on the way down Friday. They were out of Prime Rib. Great, what is a hungry hunter to do. I pick a steak as a substitute and only 1.5 hours later get to eat it. Then it is back to the room. It is nearly 11pm and we have to report to the bowling alley by 7am tomorrow morning.
Oh wait, it is Ghost on the phone. He wants to come over and do some quest. See, I keep telling you to convince others that you know to play. All right. Who needs sleep anyway. Ghost is already there waiting for us. We work on clearing the quest he needs for his urgent.
Bowling..well let's just say it was fun. Maybe you do need sleep to bowl well.
Week of July 13: Continue to work on getting monster titles. Currently, beating up Monoblos (going in order from top) - up to ten now. Ghost stops by and ShadyGuyJMV, Tommy and I help advance him to hunter level 3. We were following a guide that lists the quests needed and it neglects to mention the Plesioth 2-star quest. After killing more congas, sm hermitaurs, etc. they finally agreed to my suggestion that it is the ples quest that he needs to get the urgent tigrex. I can understand their reluctance to believe me. After all, I must constantly refer to the combining list or ask Shady how to make large barrel bombs+, etc. again and again (I think too much MH has shorted something in memory) Since we were helping Ghost, we did not get another chance at Fatalis. We do the egg carry quest - bringing back memories from MH, and Ghost gets a plate on his first Rathian tail carve! Shady says he will have full gunner fatalis by the next time we get together because he will be joining other on-line hunters. Already, his extra carve with the Jolly Roger suit has me envious. He is sure to get the Grav brainstems first with those extra carves. What! what! For the first time in three, yes 3 Monster Hunter games.....I have a Monoblos heart!!!! WAIT, unbelievable, two hearts in 2 quests!
Week of July 7: ShadyGuyJMV, Tommy and Buschka finish off an Akantor (farming) and a couple of Silver Los. We are building up our courage to try Fatalis again, unfortunately, time runs-out and we do not get to try Fatalis again. Later, I learn that Shady and Tommy went 'on-line' and failed two more times,. Yea! Receive the weapon award. Next up - finishing the online quest against 2 rajang. Read Yuffie's simple steps to beating them and begin farming Ples for fins - only one step away from top. I will definitely need it to beat them. Also, for the first time since Monster Hunter Freedom, all five cats give me skills.
Week of June 30: ShadyGuyJMV, Tommy, Vlaski, Ghost and I are all playing together. Ghost and Vlaski are recent converts to MH. Ghost makes it to hunter level 2! Afterwards, Shady, Tommy and I attempt Fatalis - and fail twice. On the first quest, Shady faints within the first minute while trying to climb to camp. Tommy falls the next two to seal our defeat, the last with less than three minutes to go - and we had dealt much damage. Fatalis' eye, chest, and wings were scared and torn. Undaunted, we re-supply and head out again. Each of us armed with the Akantor bow. This time Tommy faints first (this makes 3-in-a-row, but who's counting) then, I fall from the ledge where we tried to lure Fatalis to the dragonator, Fatalis takes aim - and Buschka is riding the cat's cart (the ride is really bumpy - maybe we can upgrade these carts with shocks in a future Monster Hunter) then Tommy gets a chest bump and concludes our second attempt. We will try again next weekend.
