Capcom Fight Club Thoughts + Swag

Thursday, October 22, 2009, 10:14 PM CST [General]

I got back from Capcom Fight Club NYC a few hours ago. Here are my thoughts about the event. I got there around 5:30 and waited in line till 8. I got to meet some cool Street Fighter fans while in line. The line wrapped around the block and kept going. I was kind of glad I got there when I did. They gave everyone who was in line tickets. Signing up was on Unity was pointless because they never checked your name off their "list". So basically anyone could have showed up and got in.

Capcom finally let people in around 7:30ish. The space was a custom sneaker shop up with two levels, the main floor and the basement. They had flat screen stations set up. They had a quite a few Tatsunoko vs Capcom stations set up while the rest were Street Fighter IV and a few Marvel vs Capcom 2. The main floor wasn't too bad. There was plenty of space to move around. The basement however was packed! People were literally standing shoulder to shoulder.

Disappointingly Capcom only had one station in the back near the DJ booth where Super Street Fighter IV was set up. They only allowed pro players like Justin Wong and a few select unity members try the game. Yuri was pretty cool and DJ was a lot better than expected. T-Hawk however was just a lame character to see. I think they should have kept him out of the game and revived another player from the Alpha series.  Do people seriously like T-Hawk? I never knew he was so popular.

Anyway it got way too crowded and being claustrophobic I jetted out of there around 9. Before I left I grabbed a swag bag. Here's what they had they gave out this year:

Swag included: Tatsunoko vs Capcom towel, 2 Capcom Fight Club posters, Street Fighter Udon comic book, Ryu figure, Yuri t-shirt, and Capcom bandana. Sadly no SOAP!

    Dear Capcom,

for the next Fight Club don't let so many people into the event. Actually honor the RSVPs or at least get a bigger event space. Thanks!

    Best,

I guess if you wanted to do some major modding, then it could be possible.

It's good to know from other arcade stick users that the TE is good because I'm being told that mine will be here on the 30th.

Gotta admit, not as bad as the 12 week turn around time for arcadeinabox.

    Thx for the insight.

Limited 250 bars? Ha! At the Los Angeles SFC, they said it was limited 150 bars. I think there are now a total of 400 bars.
