All right folks, this is the grand finale! Your last assignment for this game club, should you choose to accept it, is to beat Mega Man I. If you've been keeping up with the assignments, you should only have Wily's fortress left to take on. Report your struggles, findings, and questions here over the weekend. We'll wrap it up and discuss on Monday! As for today's discussion question: Think back to the first time you beat all six robot masters (it could have been as recently as earlier this week!), did you expect there to be an additional section? What was your reaction to finding out that there was more to the game than just the 6 robot masters?

The first time that I beat MM3 and saw that there was a Dr. Wily level I was suprised. I thought that the game would be over after the 8 robot bosses. I enjoyed it because it meant that I had more of the game to go. I was also very happy because this meant that there were new bosses and after seeing in Nintendo power magazine from #2 when i saw the huge dragon I was VERY excited to see what bosses would be coming up to beat. Back then seeing a green dragon was absolutely insane. I was very excited to get onto the new bosses.

" you should only have Wily's fortress left to take on." If you're playing those new fangled, save versions. Oh well, third time's the charm! Since I've MegaMan played start-to-finish since I was little, I was never really surprised by the Wily levels. Just excited to get to them! However, I have watched people who have never played before, and it's funny how devasted they are to find out a whole new layout of levels await them : ) >: ) |

Any tips for a battered soldier of robots?

When I first fought Wily I thought the first vehicle was the only one. So naturally I was about to die and I get him, but then he popped up in another contraption. I was like ¨aww man!¨. good times |

well, after dieing about 60 times and finding out that the magnet beam extends while holding down the button, I beat Dr. Wily. I felt accomplished...for I have never beaten Megaman 1 before.
I wasn't the only one who got the yashiki in the end right?

DISCUSSION QUESTION 1 Well, did you beat it? It's ok if you didn't, there's still this whole week to defeat Wily! If you beat it, tell us what it was like! If you didn't, let us know why!

Memories? Ha! (Warning! My poor english is an eyebleeding tool for some) As I can easily remember (from my childhood gaming experience) the easiest stage (and the boss) was Bomb Man. Next goes Cut Man, who wasn't very hard (both stage and the boss fight). Further begins quite a troubles. Guts Man stage since it's very beginning was a real pain in the a**. Well, those who were lucky enough to cross the very first pit by mastering jumping on moving platforms already have all the experience to time their jumps right to avoid both earthquakes and the rocks thrown by the boss of the stage. Next goes Fire Man. His stage was quite easy but defeating him was just a simple matter of luck. The only boss I never figured out the fighting strategy versus. He just lets you win sometimes... or sometimes not. Elec Man was a real 'rest in peace'-threat for those who never met Cut Man before... Anyway, am I the only one who always trying to beat the bosses by Rock's own weapon? Serious troubles, yes. And in the very top of the list stand Ice Man. His stage was probably the most terrible onethousanddeathes case happened to me in all my gaming carrier. Those... flying platforms, *#&!%! And the boss who does not allowed you to make more than two mistakes. Actually I knew it's not the end (since Rockman4 was the first game of the series I played and finished) with only six stages (and also all Capcom's and not only Capcom's games with free stage selection got stages not available for choosing from the beginning of the game). Wily's castle? Yep. Fire barriers was a pain, Yellow Devil was a pain (also there was that M-item to reach the ladder in the end of the stage, funny - I didn't know what should I do for quite some time when I got there without it), MegaMan clone was a pain (that was hard enough to discover the only effective way and weapon to defeat him or is it just me?). Well, castle's 3rd stage was a treatment - an ointment on my wounded psychics - no problems at all. And after the first two castle stages I was quite ready bo bust Wily's machine into scrap without hesitation - besides it wasn't actually diehard like his fourth installation's (from MegaMan4) invention. And guess what? The first one is one of my favorite in the whole MegaMan series :)

Guh, it seems that finding out the magnet beams true power at the very last stage was a horrible idea that left me frustrated and mad.
But just the fact I was able to beat MM1 means I have improved...although I did beat MM9 without a single death once.
